Yes it can be done, but it is extremely difficult as the pigment in the dye does not blend very well and leaves specks of black pigment in the tinting stage. We were told this and found out first hand that they were right!
All of the other color's that we have are no problem, but to answer your question, we are not planning on offering black chrome until we can find a sure way of blending in all of the pigment for black.

Hey Devil Dog. Marine I assume? Parris Island or Hollywood? I'm PI 3rd Battalion M Co myself.

Okay, down to business. This is exactly what I've been looking for. How much money are we talking about here? What is the turn around time? Can you do the rear bumper grill hooyah as well? Any chance we can see pictures of this on a darker car? Deep, envious, etc? It isn't quite that contrasty in the cool.

Thanks

DD,

Nice Work! Grills look great. Personally, not into excess chroming such as the fuse box.

Can you post a pic of the grills side by side, chrome vs. non? Thanks...

Actually I would prefer a black satin painted grille like Kappasphere has.Think it would look better on Pure and Yellow (when Yellow is made available). How much would a black painted grill run?

What are the grills made of, and how difficult is it to remove them?

I plan to order mine in that dark grey metallic, Sly. A friend of mine does custom motorcycle chrome, and he can do a charcoal-colored dark grey chrome. It's very nice.

These are made out of a type of plastic. They have some flex to them so they are not brittle, but they can not be chromed the traditional way, as done with metal parts.
As for getting them out, there are a couple of the air flow deflector pieces ( with push pins ) that need to come out first to get good access to them. once those are out there are (4) (2 per grill ), metal clips that are stubborn to get off the back side of the grills, but once those are off, then it is just a matter of pushing the grills out at there attachment points. Once you have the air deflector parts out of the way you can see how they are attached.
The main deflector has (2) bolts that hold it in place, take those off and that will hang down out of the way, then proceed on to the the other deflectors with push pins.
