I would stick with 190, any lower and the ecm will keep the car in warm-up mode.

There are other drawback to running to cool. There is an attribute to the design for thermal expansion (Rings, Pistons, etc), where it can actually create more harm.

I retuned from a trip to the west coast. It was one of the hottest years ever. The highest temp I reached was 212 degrees.

Not a problem, we can easily re-program your ECU to take full advantage of the lower temps.

Is it the thermostat?

Is it the fan temp sensor (or whatever triggers the fan)?

Is it made by Igloo?

It is a thermostat. The fan can be set to come on at different temps within your ECM.

As far as the radiator status goes I will be holding this buy in to get 10 pre-paid until the end of this week, Friday the 18th. At midnight on Friday it will be closed and the price will be locked. It will be about 2 weeks from then before any order will ship out.

Lets get a few more pre-orders!

I'm waiting patiently (not) for Bill's Stage III kit. This sounds like a great add-on.

I'll take one.

'slight hi-jack'

So do you have stage II at present? Or are you going from stock to stage III?

No problem, it's been exciting. The power to weight ratio is really impressive!
Stage II = 10.2 lbs/hp
Stage III - 8.4 lbs/hp
Stage IV = 7.0 lbs/hp
Not too many cars out there that can match these numbers.

Dave,
Based on the following post, I'm thinking I need to call you to finalize the purchase?

Thanks,

4 more people and 4 more days.
C'mon folks....even those of you with stock toys have commented on the car running hotter. Don't let this be another Fiero comparo with the cooling issues.
GM put in the base model radiator to cut costs just like everything else in this car. Don't cheap out now. Get a better radiator and then sell the stocker online.

Stock radiator - minimal as best

I believe Archie is the person that told me the stock radiator is a single core and only about 5/8" thick.

The new radiator will be double 1" cores. Big difference!

Even pre-turbo I had the car reach temps over 205 in 90 degree weather. If the stock radiator was sufficient you would think the coolant temp would hold at 190 (based on the thermostat).

Those who got the Vector re-flash: I was told (by Vector) that part of the re-flash was to modify the cooling fan to come on at lower temps to help out. Must have been somewhat of an issue!

I want to be able to drive the car as hard as I want without having to watch that stinkin' DIC coolant temp!
