Leaf Blower Question

Hey All,

I have heard of people using leaf blowers for drying their cars after a wash for sometime. I am finally thinking of giving this a try, but do most use gas or electric ones? Thanks...

Already had searched thanks... Nothing specifically addressed my question other than one comment, "I heard gas ones might spray out oil".

I use an electric . It is very light weight plus I can't ever start a gasoline powered one.

I use an electric one that is only reserved for the car. I do not blow leaf dust or other junk with it. After I wash the car, I leaf blow the chrome wheels, then the rest of the car. It does not get all the water off but then I follow up with a waffle weave microfiber towel. Works great with no problems

If I am traveling, I take a california something blade thing. This works good in a pinch but make sure you hose it off good before you use it so you do not drag any dirt accross.

Also, I do not use the sprayer on the hose, just let the water run off the end of the hose onto the car. I read this a while back in the detail section and did not believe it could make a difference. But it did. It does not make sense to me but I am a believer.

I hope this helps

Chuck

Not out the blower, only out the exhaust. Gas blowers will be much more powerful, and therefore able to shoot rocks and other debris at up to 120 mph at your vehicle's finish. Electric must be plugged into a ground-fault protected outlet. Try a chamois instead.

If you are buying a leaf blower just to dry your car, electric is probably your best bet. It'll never wear out and there is no maintenance. (They also work great to quickly clean off your garage floor.)

A gas blower can only spray oil out of it's exhaust, not from the blower nozzle. If this is what you have, just keep the exhaust pipe pointed away from your car!

The electric is cheaper easier and believe it or not has more power, I have a Toro, cost about $75 and it hits wind speed of over 225. Been using one since long before I got the Solstice, ever try an hand dry a Harley motor. I love mine.

I think Toro is the best too. When I bought mine a few years ago it was the only one quiet enough to use without hearing protection.

I use a purpose built dryer

BLASTER® SIDEKICK™ HANDHELD MOTORCYCLE DRYER
Amazon.com: Metro Vac Air Force Blaster Sidekick Compact & Portable Motorcycle Dryer: Home Improvement

I use it on my Harley and both cars. Its great, easy to use and has much faster air flow than a leaf blower

The power head on my shop vac comes off and becomes a blower. Claims to be 200 mph. Thats what I use to get the bulk of the water off, then chamois the rest.
