I agree that microfiber is the way to go. I use nothing but microfiber on my car, but it just seemed like the leaf blower would be even a better idea. I believe that Gary (turbomangt) formerly from Perfect Auto Finish also recommended at one point a leaf blower to get water out of all the hard to dry places.
For those that use Zaino products, they suggest washing and drying with a HIGH QUALITY american made 100% cotton towel. Only problem is I have had a hard time finding that cotton towel. According to Zaino the jury is still out on MF. High quality seems good but cheaper ones may scratch.
Loyddgbrown, according to lots of us the jury is still out on Zaino. (with the exception of wolfdog)
Would love to see a blinded (judges do not know which is which) detail on the hoods of several cars, one half zaino and one half poorboys or Gary's old stuff. I am willing to bet there would be no statistically significant difference.
Well I've always used the Perfect Auto Finish stuff on my car (with the exception of Maguires Ultimate Quick Detailer) and it's always been good. But for a change, I've decided to try Zaino. I'm just waiting for my shipment to arrive from Ontario. We'll see how good it is.

You may be absolutely right. Probably couldn't tell the difference. Just wanted to present another perspective on drying without scratching. High quality cotton towels may be a good option. Here is the link to the info. Take it for what it is worth. I use MF at this point but will probably try some of the high quality towels Zaino suggests.
My stance on using a leaf blower as opposed to towels
I have a Black&Decker 230mph Leaf Hog which you can get from walmart for like $70 bucks or so.
IT WORKS BRILLIANTLY!
No towel, no matter how absorbent, will ever be able to get the water out of nooks and crannies like a leaf blower will.
Let's put it into perspective.
How many different towels would you need to dry every different section of your car? ie. Paint, trim, engine, wheels, tires...
Maybe 6 or 7?
How many Leaf blowers do you need for all different sections of the car?
ONE!
Lets also consider...most towels or chamois will absorb most all water...but not ALL water. A thin film will be left on the surface that you have to go back over with detailer spray if you want a truly show finish.
The Leaf Blower....gets rid of it all leaving you with the shiniest finish you will ever see after drying.
Concerns:
A lot of guys ask, "What if it blows particles up onto your paint from the ground, wouldn't that scratch the finish?"
Well, if you just washed your car, then that means that the area surrounding the car is wet and there are no loose particles to be blown up from the ground. Plus, who dries from the ground up? To properly dry with a leaf blower you point it downward starting at the top and working your way down.
Also, think about this. If a particle of debris does get blown by the leaf blower, it will only get blown across the surface ONCE and then it is Gone!
If using a chamois or towel, the debris gets moved around on the surface of the paint MANY times.
Since I've used my leaf blower I have never seen my car more shiny after being blown dry as opposed to using an abosorber which is what I use to use.
I have been using Zaino on my car since the beginning and I will never use anything else. its not just about the shine with Zaino. Its the durability too. Zaino will outlast any other polish out there. Its some awesome stuff and when put on a properly perpared finish, you really get your money worth out of it!
I use a shop vac that the top comes off and turns into I guess a leaf blower of sorts. It has a filter on the end so I hope it keeps from throwing debris at my car. I still use a waffle weaver to finish it off but the leaf blower really gets into places you just cannot otherwise.
