Leather cleaner and water

Sorry for so many questions but I don't want to jack up the seats. I was going to purchase some Lexol brand leather cleaner and conditioner this weekend because that seemed to be the popular answer on another thread but when I read the instructions it says to use a wet cloth or applicator.

OK. From an earlier thread some people said you should never use water on any leather even though we don't have 100% leather seats. So my question is this...

Do you guys still wet the applicator pad/cloth or do you just use the leather cleaner product of your choice without the water?

My opinion is not to use Lexol, I love the product but not for seats. It will soften the leather to a point it may stretch. Very little of our seats are actually leather, just the middle. I use Doc Bailey's, on the car seats, and all the black leather I have.

When I use Lexol, I just mist it onto the seats a section of the seat at a time. I then rub the mist in gently with an applicator pad (like you'd use to wax). I then wait the allotted time specified on the directions on the container, then buff off the residue with a cotton towel.

You wont mess up your seats.

The Doc Bailey's no, I have done my seats and my son's all leather seats several times, as well as shoes, coats, gloves, chaps, the Harley seat I usually let it dry and then just wipe it with a clean towel. Don't get me wrong I love Lexol it works very well, almost to well for somethings. I put it on some gloves and they stretched but were incredibly soft. The Lexol leather cleaner is great stuff if your sest are dirty for some reason.

You can use the Doc Bailey's on your tires too, it will blacken them up nicely, haven't done it on the Solstice but I did the bike tires once for a bike show.

I don't think it's the water with the cleaner that you need to worry about, it's having to use water with the conditioner that's the problem. I have been known to be wrong, frequently, though.

I use Lexol cleaner and conditioner on my seats. I never use water to wet the applicator. I think the water is just to keep the applicator from soaking up the cleaner. I've never had any problems.
