Scrubbing a windshield; How??

I want to give the windshield on my Colorado a deep cleaning. It seems like Windex and the like just don't cut it.
Is there a product (or products) out there that I can use to really scrub my windshield? Is there a particular method that works the best?

I've used Bon Ami cleanser before on some other cars I had (and it worked well), but i am hesitant to use it on the Colorado. The can says not to use it on mirrors or glass.

Any help would be appreciated.

Try using a single edged razor blade. If your wary about getting cut, mount it in a "gasket scrapper" handle from your local auto parts store. It will take off everything - bug guts, paint and paint over spray, road film, dirt, etc.

I was going to suggest Bon Ami as it works great, but if you don't want to try it (or Bar Keepers Friend which is essentially the same thing)...

Bar Keepers Friend makes a liquid (cream really) cleaner for glass, or you could try a glass cooktop cleaner.

I would always apply the cleaner to a sponge / cloth and rub that on the glass. No need to end up spilling the cleaner on other parts and trying to clean it off.

Also.. remember, water is your friend! Make sure you rinse it well with any of these cleaners.

I have even used a clay bar on the glass before... it works too.

Was gonna be my suggestion..

I've used it after a buggy road trip and it helped. But I wasn't dealing with hardcore grime. Its a good start, then move up to harder stuff..

Might try old school - newspaper and vinegar. The vinegar dissolves any hard water stains and the paper is just a little more abrasive than paper towels. Also, some folks think the ink may have something to do with how well it cleans.

It works in practice, but does it work in theory?

I use a vinegar/water mix and it works better than any store bought product I have ever used.

Once you get the chunky stuff off use some alcohol with the newspaper or paper towel. Should remove everything else and not leave a streak.

Rain-X makes a product for cleaning your windshield - it works good - Bon Ami will do the same job.

Bon Ami is a harsh abrasive. I used it years ago and form that experience you will regret that.

Elbow grease and vinegar as suggseted if needed or I use Rain X cleaner mentioned.

After getting bugs and tar off, I clean with vinegar & water. Sometimes I follow up with Invisible Glass.

I actually used some ZPC (Zaino Paint Cleaner) on my back window of the Solstice to remove some water stains that had been there since I got the car. Came right off.
