I don't post here too often, more skimming of posts.

But thought i'd just post a quick update on the ASP build.

Biggest thing right now is sorting out the suspension. having measured camber curves, toe curves and such. now working on what "actually" happens dynamically. But we have a very good idea on this.

Need to thank Dave at Dejon for helping out with the power side of things (as my specialty is in suspension and dynamics)

Can't wait for the season to get into full swing

18x11 CCW's w/ 315/30R18 hoosier A6's on all four corners
Koni DA's
Race Springs
Intercooler
IC piping
Intake pipe
Boost controller
tweaking the tune
Sparco Evo's
Energy suspension bushings

plus alot of math and calculations.
Jr.Johnson had the opertunity to drive it. said it was more fun than the SETUP cars but shouldn't be in ASP (danny pop said the same thing).
The goal of this year is to prove the car should be re-classed in SP. just need to get some SPAC members to drive it a bit.

The car is still a hellofalot of fun to drive and would be a good fit for BSP. and even better fit if the STEvo's were moved

Holy SMOKES those are some wide tires! Don't think I've seen such a wide tire on a Solstice.

Do those effect the handling in a significant manner? Better or indifferent due to the change in your alignment?

Good luck in the season!

Well hopefully you can prove the point you're trying to make. There's a lot of other owners here who will agree ASP seemed to be a little too high.

Great, I was hoping someone would do this. Maybe you can get some of us Skys to come out of AS and play in SP in the future. I was considering SP class until I found out it was ASP, I have to agree we are outgunned there. Did you send in your letter to SCCA asking for the reclass to BSP? ( Where our car obviously belongs ) If so, could you send me a copy so I can plagiarize it and send in my letter to help the cause. Good luck this year the car looks great.

I would suggest writing your own letter. Anytime an organization recieves cookie cutter letters they don't mean much at all. If they get many individual letters it would mean much more to them.

Who are you (PM me if you don't want to announce yourself to the world) and where will you be running the car this season? I'd definitely like to follow along on your progress and results to get some solid info to back the reclass request. SCCA SEB doesn't give much heed to letters with "because it just seems to me to belong in XYZ class rather than where it is." as the justification, they want real numbers and results. It would be nice if the Soli had a progression class to go to and remain competitive once it becomes obsolete in stock class.

I believe DrJones' first name is Alex, and if I remember correctly he lives in Ohio. I know he races with the Detroit SCCA group (I see him post over there from time to time when I'm on there), not sure if he competes in other groups or not.

I, too, have looked at what it would take to move to a SP class... but didn't like my chances in ASP at all. So, I'm sticking in stock class.

I was hoping to meet up with DrJones in Detroit for the Evo School... but last I read he was going to the one in Cincinnati instead.

I'm planning on hitting the national event in Peru, IN end of June (weekend before July 4th). I'm hoping to see a few of the Detroit / Chicago folks there as well as some of the national tour Solstice drivers.

DrJones,
No problem, the plagiarize comment was meant tongue in cheek as I am capable of writing my own letter. My thoughts were to see what topics you covered and what you didn't allowing me write a letter that would strengthen the postion of moving the car to BSP in turn showing the SCCA SEB that there are a number of individuals that support the reclassification.

KK,
Glad to know, and I quote: "SCCA SEB doesn't give much heed to letters with "because it just seems to me to belong in XYZ class rather than where it is." as the justification," I would certainly include data in any letter written to the SEB, if or how they choose to use that data would be up to them.

Sorry I thought I could help on this subject, but y'all have succesfully convinced me that this would be a colossal waste of my time. I will crawl back to my regularly scheduled AS program.

Good luck

I would like to hear how you do.
I might go to CSP someday with my CS ZOK for the fun of it.
I know...too heavy...too wide...not enough power...
Just think of all the stick I could get though!

That is what I keep thinking. 315s on 18x11s sound good for a CSP car even if it is a bit heavier than the other cars. If nothing else it would be really fun.

As for the "Data" the SEB/SPAC wants, we have some current and past SPAC members in our region (DRSCCA) that i have been talking with and will probably drive the car at some point this season.

I'll try to keep everybody a little more update than i have been. although until recently i havn't had too much to talk about just parts and math.

I did do the Evo school in cincy and had some good discussions with Mike "Jr" Johnson and Danny pop. the car was pretty good, but definatly needs some more development.
Next chance to get the car worked out some will be end of april at the Peru t&t. i'll try to remember to post some updates then.

Untill then here are some pictures from the evo school (the GXP starts on the bottom of pg 9)

too wide is right!
talking with Jr and Danny my car is only an inch narrower in the rear than their ASP Corvettes.
