so i had much fun taking the car apart just to put it back together they same way.

I had heard that you have had the car in the air for a long time. Sorry to hear that you got "snaked" on the clutch.

Alex... I'm guessing the Detroit is the Belle Isle event? I should be there.. just not sure as to how prepared I will be for the event. I'm driving the car the weekend before in Ohio, the entire week prior to the event and then at that weekend all without coming home. Doubt I'll have my trailer and my RE-01R's are shaved to the point that I can't drive in the rain. I might end up on my stock goodyears... but I should be at the event even if that's all I have.

Hope to see you there...

So i ran into a slight power steering leak yesterday at the event.
Looks like it is leaking out of one of the fittings on the front side of the rack.

Hopefully this isn't something caused by the 315's on the front. we'll see, thats what develpment is about right?

May need to run an underdrive pully on the pump? Racks don't like too much pressure.

I wondered what happened... didn't get a chance to talk to you in the pits at the end. My girlfriend waived that she was leaving while I was working (and you were running), and to my surprise she just took a little nap in her car and was waiting for me when the event was all done. Can't blame her.. we did get up at 4 AM and she did run the 1/2 marathon before coming to see my race.

Glad to hear it wasn't anything too major (at least I hope). Wonder if the 4 spins you and Jason put on the car had anything to do with the leak? LOL

But you didn't show... how come?

I won TAS by about a second or a bit more... have to wait to see the final times, just going from the trophy announcement... I was hoping to see how I compared, but I guess we will have to wait until next year, eh?

Not sure on the cause of the power steering issue. I did notice it right after my 2nd spin across the finish line.

I was having some understeer problems at the event. I was just attributing (speeeling :P ) to dirty old tires and a slick parking lot. But when i was checking the car out after work yesterday i noticed i was missing one rear sway bar bolt and the other on that clamp was half way out! I know I torqued them but I guess a little loc-tite will be required (let that be a lesson for everybody else).

PAX results from Sunday's event at Belle Isle

I'm happy with 11th on PAX considering I only took 3 out of 5 runs w/only 1 being clean, power steering problems and a cruddy alignment.

Looks like rich was in 38th on PAX

Class Results

Preliminary 2008 Season Points
Looks like i grabed the last trophy spot in the PRO class behinde the Meridiths and Chuck

Thanks.. I did see the post by Jason on the Detroit board and took a look last night. I wonder if he has an Excel version or not. It looks like I was the fastest raw time on street tires for all classes from what I see in PAX results. I like to keep track of that (for some reason), as my South Bend group doesn't have a street tire class. I still don't think the PAX for AS is a good value to use and that I end up lower in PAX than I should. Granted that could just be me complaining, but I find it odd when I see the DS Crossfire which I beat in raw time by 0.8+ seconds and loose out in PAX to him by 0.6 seconds.

The track was getting faster (well, seemingly less slick, as I didn't touch tire pressure... heck, I drove the car to the event, cleared it out, and raced it the way it was in my garage for every day driving) when I was out there, and I was driving better (smooth and not over running, braking earlier). My first three runs were all very close (44.1, 44.2, 44.1) and then I dropped 1/2 second on the 4th and another 1/2 second on the 5th. I should have been able to get a 42.+ second run in there, but I need to be better at getting that by the 3rd run to mimic a National event. It still takes me too long to figure out where I'm over driving the course.

It was a great event.. and as I said on the Detroit board I might do a dual membership next year. I wrapped up the AS championship in the South Bend group, and finished 4th in Detroit with only 1 event... 2 more events in Detroit and I would have won that one as well. I'm still playing with the little boys though, the big guys (like Alex) are up in the pro indexed class... I'm still a ways away from that group though as these PAX results clearly show.

A think you have to remember about the D-Stock crossfire beating you on PAX is that D-Stock is considered the 2nd slowest Stock class this year behinde H-Stock (yes G-stock is faster than D-Stock) and you were in the 2nd fastest stock class.

Thats one reason I know i could have done better this weekend. I usually beat Mathew Braun (super stock elise) on raw time and he beats me in PAX. But this last weekend I didn't even beat him raw time.

That's why I think the PAX's are messed up... but in reality that means I simply didn't drive the GXP to it's potential according to the best drivers last season (who set the PAX time), correct?

I would love to have you co-drive in an event or two next year in my car, so that I can see what a better driver does in my car. I'd like something to shoot for, and simply don't have competition (that's not a knock against other drivers, the ONLY time I competed against another Kappa was this weekend and that was your friend) to understand if I'm driving the car to 80% of it's ability or 90% or what have you. Without competition I don't now, and I've counted on the PAX results. This event was the first time I haven't finished top 10, but the level of talent in Detroit is much higher.. how many current & former National Champions are there in the region and how many between me and the Top PAX??
