I believe the vis hood has been out for a while but correct me if I am wrong. I think the reason alot of people dont have it is becuase it requiers hood pins.

They are always so vague in the descriptions. It would be nice if they gave you some drawings or charts. I wrote an email asking the weight. I would think that would be the first thing listed because thats the point of a CF hood but I guess they just figure people will buy anything.

Ya and if like ibdrinken stated, it may require hood pins, since it is an option when ordering. I wouldn't want it then

yeah it probably needs them cause the latch assembly isnt molded in. The hood pins will be at the back by the windshield so they wont be nearly as obnoxious as normal hoodpins. I think they can be blended in nicely.

AEROCATCH.NET. These look nice. I was worried they were spring loaded because we will have to walk around the car but they will stay unlatched when open so we can do one at a time.

yeah, those would be the ones.

I can't believe there is actually a hood available. I thought all this time everyone said Vis never actually built any.

for that price, i'm sure they just duplicated the same OEM metal skeleton and didn't put any effort into a proper carbon piece but it has to weigh less than stock. Even with a cored piece.

It's cheaper than the stock OEM hood I'm getting put back on... too bad I couldn't use this for stock class in autocross... I'd give it a shot.

There probably isn't any attach points for the stock hinges and latches

From reading other car forums, ViS hoods have attachment points for factory latches, and I know a lot of people do use factory latches with the ViS hood, as well as some use hood pins. I think the hood pin thing is just a general caution they use for all of their hoods. The majority of their hoods are for normal open hoods with use one latch in the middle. Our cars use dual latches as you know, and should work just as well as hood pins. Pins are used to keep air from lifting up the hood at the front, but our hood opens backwards and has the two hinges up there.

If I had the money, I'd buy one.

I think your smokin' the good stuff if you think you'll lose 100 lbs. The hydroformed panels on these cars are light.
