So I was working with a professional photographer (more on that in a few months) who came out to shoot some pics at my last Autox in Lansing, MI. This is a non SCCA group, but they run SCCA rules (cheap events, lots of seat time). Anyway.. I won AS as usual (by 3 seconds) and was 9th in PAX (104 cars).
I love this picture... shows me "looking ahead" and the motion blur is great. This was right at the start of a 180 degree turn around, so I'm looking across the turn at the exit gates as I came into the start of the turn.
What mods have you done to the car? Stock tires? How long have you been AXing?
Raced against any STIs? I'm just starting this sport and am looking for pointers.
Thanks for your help.

Excellent, Rich! The picture is too cool for words!

If so, how much do they weigh compared to stock Solstice wheels?
I never bothered to check. My stock wheels are the chrome wheels, and while I did run with those for a year.. I didn't want to this year. I picked up the Sky wheels because I got the set for $300... not for weight reduction. My guess, and that's all it is, is they are only slightly lighter than the stock GXP painted / polished wheels.

K&N air filter, Solo Street Race cat back exhaust, Curt Hitch (to haul tires / toolbox to events), Sky Wheels, and Bridgestone RE-01R's. I've done an alignment as well to suit my driving style (~ -1.8 camber, 7+ caster, 1/16" rear toe).

Thanks... (everyone).
Yeah, that SM2 Miata usually beats me in my local events in raw time. He's lowered, aftermarket shocks, roll bars, and Hoosiers. It's a father / son combo, and the father has been running for many years in that car. Both are good drivers, not trying to discount that at all.
I'm just running street tires - Bridgestone RE-01R's I got from RMR when they had them up for sale. All I did was shave them to 6/32", mount them and run. They have done really well for me this season actually. I'm usually top 10 in PAX, top 5 in raw times... and all others in that group are on R compounds.

Fabulous pictures. That really gets the blood boiling! It is like when a horse sees a group galloping away. I see pictures like that and I just long to go driving~
You need some n/a's to compete with those miatas in CS. What was with the boxster and the miata with 4 dnf's? Was the course tricky?
There is one picture showing the curb I'm close to (actually fairly far away, but the picture makes it looks close)... this section was very slow and technical for safety reasons. It looked like a double "S" once left - right, then front - back (so they almost 90 degrees to each other). The purpose was to force the speeds down where we transisitioned from one parking lot to another. Many people simply were too fast, and missed gates.
So, that one section was technical (I actually down shifted to 1st on some of the runs trying to find a good line / speed), but it doubled the length of the intended course.
Sorry, but the competition at that event seems to have been weak sauce, I didn't recognize a single driver/car as being of national caliber. You really need to tow a little distance (like to the 2 day SCR/CCR event Sept 27/28 at the "black lake", aka Michelin proving grounds) CCR-SCCA » CCR - SCR Battle / Points AX #7 to test your mettle against some serious competition. This is one of the most awesome sites in the country, a HUGE pad paved in race track grade asphalt. Not saying you're not a good driver, but that's like beating kids on tricycles with a motor scooter.

No offense taken on the comments about the caliber of competition. This group is a fun group.. that's it. It's not national level competition. I compete with the South Bend Regional group for that (4 past National champs there), and fair similarly in that group as well. I've only finished 2nd once in AS there, pulled FTD - Stock once or twice as well.
I have no doubt that I'm not a National competition level driver.. no is my set up for that.. look at what I've done to it. The thread was started simply to share some pictures from a recent event.. it's the first time I've had decent pictures from an event, so I thought I'd share so others could see what it's like.
Next year I'm going to have to compete more in the Chicago and Detroit regions to see where I place. As long as someone doesn't crash into the GXP before Peru (like this year) I'll be down there for the National Tour event and I can see how well / poor I do against competition. That's the reason I'm not running Nationals this year... I didn't run my car or in AS at Peru, I ran on a borrowed under developed ASP Solstice in SM2 with street tires. Granted I only ran a few seconds off the pace (on the second day once I had the three previous runs from Saturday under my belt) I still don't know where I measure up to competition in AS.
Next year will be fun.. this was the first full season with the car, still don't R compounds, still on stock suspension too... maybe that will change, maybe that won't.. all depends on tax return results!!
