I've let a few people know that I instruct for a Miata Club at their track day events. These events do not require a rollbar and are also not speed limited. They are held on the Pocono North Course. That track includes part of the NASCAR track.
Anyway, I had an opportunity to go out and have some fun in the Solstice before handing it off to my wife for the rest of the day. It was interesting and fun. I think I was up around 120 before having to turn down into the infield. I had a couple of moments in it and decided that discretion was the better part of valor...
The video below is taken from the other car that I took there - an '87 Toyota Corolla Hatchback that has been gutted and a rollbar installed. I'm doing the 24 Hours of LeMons this coming weekend and needed to sort out the car. Needless to say that the Sol has a bit more power than Corolla and walked away from me when she was able to pass some slower traffic that I wasn't able to.
