Right now there are only two of us, my Sassy Sue and Tony in his Cool. Glider Rider gives us both lots of support and maybe some day... here is the local link http://www.lvrscca.org look under autocross.

I would love to. I have asked DreamerDave to update us on when the local meets are so some of us can go.

MomsSol and I are taking our Sols to BeaveRun race track this Saturday to try some autocrossing. We'll let you know how we do. We also have an older Corvette coming with us. The match up should be fun.

Iwould really like to attend some track days. But there isn't a roll bar system available (as far as I know). I could have one fabricated but it would intrude daily driving (i.e. top operation & passenger comfort). I have been offered track days at Infineon and Laguna (with USTC Champion).

Has anyone got any info on practical roll bar system?

If you go to an Autox event you do not need a Roll Bar.

Auto-X is cool but it's a 1st & 2nd gear show in a parking lot. The stock tires aren’t really up snuff for that type of run. I would prefer to explore the high-speed cornering abilities and rub shoulders with the track day types.

But as you said Auto-X doesn’t require a roll bar and an extra set of tires & wheels is only $2K, might be the best option.

How much damage does a cone do if you happen to hit one during an auto-x?

My husband hit a cone on his first race and the only mark it left was dirt from the cone. I think the cones they use are fairly soft and flexible.

Amasingly not that much, I know first hand...

Mainly gets some rubber scuffing on the car and wheel. It's only when you slam a cone really hard you could do some real damage. That's why clear bra is nice for racining too.

Exactly, we have the clear bra (the one sold thru Kappasphere) on the hood, bumper, mirrors, headlights, fender wells, and the rear kick panel.

Well...my Solstice was purchased pretty much for autox.
Track days do not excite me as much as autoxing even though speeds are higher and I can't afford to go road racing so autox it is!

My wife and I used to do lots of auto-X years ago when I owned two Fiat X-19's. NOTHING could touch them in their class!

So, when we get our GXP we will probably have to try it again!
