Update on the Riken - Raptor's

Update on my friend with BMW M5 with the Riken Raptor's: He had a good test run in the rain, and he says they are just fine with the wet traction.

Seems like to me the Rikens - Raptors are a great value. Definitly pulling the trigger on a set of these.

Look forward to the Solstice review of how they perform both wet and dry

Taking the Solstice on the track (Motorsport Ranch) Dec 16th. Want to keep the all season tires for the first time (less grip = more forgiving). So some time after Dec 16th I will be able to give a report.

If anyone else has them, please feel to give us a report.

Thanks,

Good to hear, I'll try to remember to do an update to this in a couple months to see if there is new pricing and new tires in this segment.

I'm not linking to places you can buy them or the vendors who sell them, I've just listed information about these products. I'm also not promoting these products for personal gain. If you've got a part/product you want to talk about you can, you just can't promote them for sale or link the vendor or vendors selling them.

I'm also a member who gets excited about things so sometimes I forget to view what I'm posting from my admin perspective. If you feel something in this thread violates the rules then let me know. Having said that I realized I did put pricing in the initial post, which I'll remove now since that does violate forum policy.

I have the Federal 595s but they are 20"s not 18".

I can get the rear wheels to break free if I whip it around a U-Turn really hard, but on the twisties, these tires hold the road like they were glued to it. I like the feel of these tires.

Pretty much the pricing was the thing I was wondering about. Because I would love to promote my sponsors, but that cost money right ? So I can't really do anything for them on this forum.
thanks...

FYI I found the Riken tires for $78 and the Nexen 3000 for $84 and $98. I have narrowed it down to these two. Price looks right for the Riken Zr tires

True but according to their spiel they say they made the Riken to compete with Lower end UHP tires. It scored well on the tyre test site. I will let u know if i should of gone with the Nexen soon. Got the foose rims and the riken tires on the way. I can still change the order been wondering!! Opinions are welcomed

Just got the Riken Raptor tires and they are UHP tires not HP. They have a better treadwear rating than the Nexen's. 300 Riken to 320 Nexen. Guy at the shop told me lower # means they are stickier compound. Tire says its the wear rate. They are AA which is the highest of the class in tires. This seems encompass many performance tires into this class since better tires also fall in the AA category as well but have lower tread wear #'s

GT Radial - CHAMPIRO 328=280 TW#, Federal - SS-595=260TW#, Hankook Ventus Sport K104=280 TW# all have the best tire wear #'s this meaning worst tire wear (longevity) but best stickiness to ground. I will let u guys know how the tire performs. Hell for $78 bucks each it it is a decent tire u cant go wrong.

My Rikens will be here Tuesday. Just turned over 34K on the RSA's. I'll wait until after a business trip to get them installed. Will have them for Nationals and the good roads after! $360 including delivery. Wished I would have put them on in time for our Texas/New Mexico/Arizona tour. Lots of fun roads that would have been even better on new rubber.
