I like the design and styling of my GXP, but the thing that bothers me is when you part beside a Mustang or other sports car the back of the Sol looks a little wimpy. I think some wider tires would solve the problem (and hopefully pickup a little extra traction).
I am very new to the Solstice world - just purchased 2-weeks ago - so I need some suggestions.

1) What is the maximum width wheel that will fit the Front/Back?
2) What is the optimum tire size for the said wheel - Front/Back?

Thanks in advance

I was running 265/40R18 tires on 18x9 ET55 wheels F and R. After the demise of my car I sold this wheel and tire setup to Randy at DDMWorks. His car is really lowered and it doesn't rub anywhere.

On the 18x9 wheels a max of 275/40R18 or 275/35R18 will fit. The 275/35 will definitely fit F and R; the 275/40 will definitely fit in the rear and should fit in the front, no guarantees though.

The only production 18x9 ET55 wheel I know of for the Solstice/Sky is the OZ Ultraleggera. Most sites will list it as a rear-only option, but I know it will fit up front too.

I think some folks have fit 9.5s in the rear. I know if you get the ultras at tirerack they only give you the 9s for the rears and like 8s for the front. Whats stock width?

A 10.5 295 will fit in the back but stick out a little. As MY-Low said the 275's will fit prefect and not stick out at all. I'm going to go with 275's in the back of mine.

There are wheels as wide as 10.5" for the rear and 9.5" for the front available. Stock is 8". DrJones is running a custom set of 18x11 CCW's with 315/30R18 Hoosiers F and R in ASP!!!! IIRC, they fit without having to modify anything.

The OZ 18x9's are the widest/most economical wide setup that will fit F and R. Tire Rack may not list them for the front but myself and Randy can attest that they fit just fine.

If you want 9's with 275/35R18 at all 4 corners you can do it through Tire Rack, you just have to call them to place the order and explain why you want it before they'll let it ship. They'll tell you that they can not guarantee that the 275 will fit up front and that you'll need to run a couple pounds higher than factory specified cold inflation pressure (96 vs 95 load index). There will be note on your packing slip to that effect.

On an unmodified car the 18x9-275/35 combo should fit with zero problems F and R. Randy's car is super-low and the 18x9-265/40 combo fits great. I think the shorter and barely wider 275/35 will look great on any Sol/Sky with the OZ's.
