The stock 60-70HP just wasn't enough.....
Its almost 30 years old.... you'd never expect to get smoked by a Chevette!!
It'll be a nice sleeper.....Didn't have the money for a GXP of my own but hopefully I can build a fun, little, unassuming car for a bit less......

I hope you can quadruple the brakes without losing the hubcaps. Can't knock a sleeper! Good choice of powertrains. Damned!. Spanked by a Chevette!.. Ouch!

that things is going to be sweet. esp. if you can hope up the motor. That car probably weighs an easy 1000lb less than the solstice! mmmm... it's like a mazdaspeed 3 but not as pretty and rear wheel drive!

can't knock a sleeper is right and that thing is going to fly, what's it going to weight and what is the drive train with wiring going to cost?

I was at a car show and they had one of those silver aniversary corvette pace cars

that car's original 8 cylendar engine had all of 180 horsepower and weighed more then the solstiice does

this thing is going spank just about everything

it can't be a total sleeper though because to use all that horespower he's gonna need a huge footprint, gonna give the car away

had crossed my mind as well, cept custom chassis not a 7... 7 is too heavy and weak for what it is... although easy to construct.

An HHR based LNF mid engine car had also crossed my mind.

Can't wait to see it done. You should leave it the stock color and keep the interior red for added sleeper effect.

There are a lot of cars I probably would have chosen before this one, but I applaud you for thinking outside of the box. As much as I hate Honda's I'd love to see someone throw a GXP motor in one.

So where did you acquire such a grand motor from? That thing looks bran new. Seats too?

Its a 78 Chevy Chevette.........

Yeah it's pretty new.......only 12 miles!

I wouldn't put this in a honda! .....I guess a chevette isn't much better, but tell me....you see this little thing at the traffic light and it smokes your ass pullin the wheels up on the launch!!!..........wishfull thinking.

Parts are coming together and I'm still waiting on the chassis/cage.

Reminds me of the two V6 Vegas I built over 20 years ago. Take one Vega GT with a blown engine, and one Buick V6 with 5 speed trans, add a custom 2.5" single exhaust (with Corvair Turbo muffler) and mix. Result was a car that would blow the doors off a Porsche 944. Weak link was the rear (sound familiar), you could find complete rears with 4.11 gears and a posi-traction for $15 from the bone yard. Ahh the memories!
