Marvel mystery oil has been around since 1923. I wouldn't use it again, had some bad experiences with it in the 70's. Basically it makes your oil thinner and has some solvent in it. Worked OK to clean up carburators.
I have been storing cars during the winter for 40 years with never any problem. Just fill up the tank, park it and forget it. Start it up next spring. Just think how long cars sometimes sit at car lots and dealers.
Be very wary if your vehicle may have any ethanol in the fuel you will have in your tank. This is causing some engine manufacturers a ton of grief lately, so I have heard, especially in the marine industry.
There should be some fuel stabilizers that address this out soon, if there aren't already. I'd be happy to help you get hold of some good stuff if this ethanol issue may apply to you at all.
i am in the army and have deployed three times. i have left a saturn sl2 with over 100000 miles, a 1990 chevy k1500 with 230000 miles, a saturn ion redline, and this car during various deployments. all three times i deployed for at least a year. and every time all of my vehicles started up just fine. and i never left a car in a climate controlled area.
just put stabil in the tank, disconnect the battery, and dont leave the parking brake on and you will be fine.

I'm in Canada and we don't have the same ethanol requirement in our gas as you do south of the border......
We do have some gas with max 10% ethanol, but it is well posted (and kept well away from).

Question about whether to disconnect the battery or not during storage (approx 5-6 months):
It makes sense to do so and keep a tricle charger on it, however, I have seen in a few posts here that that (negatively) effects the ECM and one could have start up problems when coming out of hibernation, due to the ECM having to re-learn.
Trickle chargers can be connected to the battery when it is still connected to the vehicle (charger negative connected to the engine block), but would this have an adverse effect on the ECM and other electronics?

Make sure you run your solstice after the sta-bil is put in the tank to ensure the sta-bil gets up into fuel lines and the injectors.
A good battery charge will only charge when it needs to and not over charge so there shouldn't be any reason it would affect your ECM.
