   GXP changing to synthetic oil

I am thinking of changing to synthetic oil after I hit 500 miles-break in period. I know synthetic is better, but wondered if the "automatic" oil change/oil life left indication on the DIC will still function right or indicate oil change due as if it was regular oil--as I don't plan on changing in then every 3000 mile-but more likely 6000-7000 miles. Any comments/suggestions? Thanks

The GPX comes with synthetic oil from the factory. Stick with it and never use dino!!

GXP has synthetic Mobil 1 as factory fill. ANy reputable brand of full synthetic should be appropriate.

The engineers have set up the oil life monitor to monitor the engine and driving style, it does not monitor the oil itself other than pressure, temperature, maybe level. There is no direct measure of viscosity or purity. In other words, it doesn't care what oil is in it as far as what point it tells you to change the oil.Similarly with a vehicle with dino oil such as teh base Sol, the oil life will not adjust for synthetic, but if synthetic affects favorably engine and oil temperature then it may extend the interval for you.
