My gxp is stock and would like to start to put on aftermarket extras on my gxp to improve
my speed and performance.. does the borla exhaust sound strong and does it show a noticeable impovement in horsepower???
Please reply...
I can't comment on Borla , but the majority of owners have chosen ( in MY particular order): SOLO , Magnaflow , and RPI.
I have a SOLO RCD (Dual Center Outlet). This requires a new rear fascia from Norm's Fiberglass. This exhaust system eliminates most of the bends in the pipes. Power is definitely increased as is the sound. (look on this forum for sound clips).
The Magnaflow keeps the same configuration as stock but breathes better and sounds better.
I can't speak about the RPI System , but it's frequently mentioned in threads about aftermarket exhausts.
Regarding aftermarket intakes , you'll have to rely on someone else , but if you have a GXP , I'll sell you a "still in the box " Fujita system.

beadman I also have the SOLO RCD (dual center outlet) along with a new fascia from Norms like Tailhooker. I couldn't be happier with the sound/look/performance.
As far as CAI I went with GM since I live in CA. and didn't want to take any chances on passing smog down the road. It was really simple to install, looks and sounds good.
Welcome to the forum, I have the Magnaflow which like the previous posts is similar in setup to the stock, but uses a 3" pipe and the muffler is about 50% smaller, meaning less weight. It sounds pretty good but with a Solo Performance high flow CAT, it sounds awesome. Not much HP increase with the Magnaflow exhaust but there is a significant sound change. The magnaflow combined with a Solo CAT = 15hp gain. Add a Westers Garage Tune and you have an additional 45-50 HP gain.

Also, add a intercooler to the mix and with the above HP gain you can add around 10 more HP and a lot more torque!

I want to get a cai but was told it was dangerous because the intake is in the wheelwell and it rains in florida alot and would be bad.. does add that much to the cars power to be worth it for me?

No you can find posts of the intake, it sits under the hood to the front edge, no problems in the rain. It even has a cover on the top so if you open the hood while wet, it stops the water from draining on it. It doesn't add power but it does change the noise quite a bit.

Deepbluegxp is right ,the CAI sits in the front center under the hood. And you can run it with or without the metal flap it comes with to shield off water. It also has a sleeve/sock you can put on the filter to keep it dry. I've ran it w/o the shield and the sleeve/sock and have never had a problem with water. The increase in hp is small. But it does sound and look much better and it gets rid of alot of the ugly stock plastic off the engine. Lets the engine breathe better too.
