My car has been acting sluggish lately. The second gear usually has the most pep but needs to be revved really high to get the power back. I read the thread on leaking turbos and I am wondering if this is happening to me as well.
The rubber elbow joint looks a bit worn. I mean, it used to be a dull black rubber color but now it has a "reddish" tinge to it, almost looks like it is oxidizing. Also, I don't think my clamps are the best (factory stock) since there are areas where the fit looks suspicious.
How can I tell the turbo joints are leaking?
Are there visible signs of this?
Any sounds I can associate with leaking turbos?

According to my local Saturn tech if your elbow boot has a reddish tinge it is leaking. They tightened mine up and cleaned it off and so far no discoloration.

The only way to tell if you have a leak is to pressurize the intake. Get one of these and attach it to the hotside ic pipe(you cant attach it to the turbo since one of the lines from it goes to the valve cover).
