I have a small amount of money, and I am for sure getting the GMPP Stage Kit. I'm bone stock right now (well, except racing stripes)
I guess my question is, if you had the remainder of that from $1000, $300-400 or so, what would be the next thing you'd do? I've been looking around and I can't decide, and I would like to know what you'd do.

In your case. since you are adding the tune/power/torque, I would say put the remainder into the upgraded backbone, probeam, and strut brace for the extra stucture support of the vehicle . Will make a huge difference and is a safety value add on.

I'd probably just save it, and pick up a new exhaust when possible. The tune being around 600 bucks, I think you'll still have to pay for the install/reflash. That would probably leave you right around 250-300. Heck you might get lucky and check the for sale section, find an exhaust for a lot less than new.
I was actually looking at the backbone mod b/c the hopping is starting to get to me, and I would love a new exhaust (I love the sound of the Solo exhaust, not sure if the Street Race is for me, but maybe the Mach Shorty)...
decisions decisions. I know I wouldn't regret either of these choices...
I have no doubt in my mind in that price rance get the DDM backbone, I am a huge believer in the Wester's tune and a good exhaust but I would honestly say the backbone is the most important mod there is for the Solstice, this is a place where GM just plan failed, it is inexpensive and easy to do and will only help you enjoy all the later mods even more. Anyone who drives a Solstice will benefit from this mod period.

A lot of us would love to see the stripes! How about posting some photos in the thread linked below:
Exhaust is very good also but out of that price range for one. The other reason for not suggesting the exhaust is the GMPP tune is mapped for the stock exhaust and got the results published with the stock exhaust so by keeping it stock for now you lose nothing. Changing the exhaust without an updated GM tune you gain basicly a better tone and nothing else. So what would you prefer before paying to tweak the tune? A few hundred on better structure or 600 plus on a better tone.
This coming from a guy who has done basicly everything possible minus a tune and have also not purchased the backbone, probeam, and strut bar.
Had they all been available when I first started my mod adventures I would have done performance adds first but they were not so I went cosmetics. now that I am done with cosmetics "I think ", I'll jump on performance. You can see how I have stayed specific on my mod grouping (minus the exhaust but that was due to an accident and it had to be replaced so why not upgrade).
Since your going performance first with the big one of adding power and the price of the products, that is why I say structure.

hmm, I guess my choice is made, then isn't it?
Ok, so I'm gonna go with the backbone and if I have enough get the probeam, or is it the other way around...? I'd hate to twist the crossmember, ouch, but then again, body twist is no laughing matter either.

Yes, backbone then probeam.
Another thought that came to mind about the exhaust issue. With the probeam in place you'll be able to ensure whatever exhaust you get will fit with the probeam installed cause you'll have the between distance measurement. An issue I'm dealing with on mine. I made my own exhaust run which is very much like the solo muffler-less one but my pipes run a wider path (though I have a muffler). From my e-mail discussions with them and Kappashpere, neither bar will fit right. I'll have to change the pipe run again to allow for the fitment of both. Thank God I can do my own but had I done the probeam first I would have gotten it right the first time.

I can honestly say you will be amazed at what the backbone will do, it is subtle but it's not.
