What if your car has never had any problems? As much trouble as some people have had, I would be afraid that it would cause something else to go wrong. Do we know that this a final fix or another replace it and cross your fingers?
Until we know the actual details of the procedure there are two possibilities:
1. each and every car gets a new seal, regardless of conditoin or
2. each car is inspected to determine
a. it is leaking and will get a new seal
b. it has a verifiable old part # and will get a new seal
c. it has had already a new part# seal installed and needs no further action

No, I do not work for GM or any subsidiary or supplier.
So we can't take our cars in till feb? Even if I don't have problems I am doing it to avoid future problems.
Don't take it in until you get a notice in the mail from Pontiac . . . unless, of course, your Solstice is leaking diff fluid all over your driveway/parking spot . . .

NOTE: If you see a new thread start, don't post to it!! And don't post to it and here! I'm sure new threads will be started over the next few days if folks don't check to see if it's already been posted.
I had the vent leak and had it fixed over a year ago. Took a look under the car on Sunday and noticed the diff looked a bit oily. Couldn't tell if the spots under it were old or not. It's probably leaking, but since I'm not driving in now, I'll wait until I get the official word to see what's up.

It appears to be ALL, and if your car has not been in for the seal replacement... in fact there appears to be no criteria for skipping those who *have* been in and replaced. I'm sure the dealers will be instructed to inspect, then replace. So if the rear end isn't showing signs of leaking, why touch it? I doubt it will be a carte blanche replace all, irregardless of symptoms.

I have an open diff and have had it leaking from the pinion seal once. They just replaced it when i complained about the whine that just started to happen ~~20k miles. (yeah, my dealer rocks.)
