Until we know the actual details of the procedure there are two possibilities:
1. each and every car gets a new seal, regardless of conditoin or
2. each car is inspected to determine
a. it is leaking and will get a new seal
b. it has a verifiable old part # and will get a new seal
c. it has had already a new part# seal installed and needs no further action

Don't take it in until you get a notice in the mail from Pontiac . . . unless, of course, your Solstice is leaking diff fluid all over your driveway/parking spot . . .

Opinion please
if your car has never had a problem...can you put the recall notice on "Stand-by" mode

you know...the old...:"if it ain't broke...don't fix it"

you know...sometimes when they try to "Fix" things...it's not always for the better.

Does anyone know does this just involve cars that have the optional locking rear end or standard rear end as well?

Mine started leaking the Sunday I got home from d2's '06 SOS. I just got the 2008 replacement and the whine has been eliminated. So far so good...

I had the vent leak and had it fixed over a year ago. Took a look under the car on Sunday and noticed the diff looked a bit oily. Couldn't tell if the spots under it were old or not. It's probably leaking, but since I'm not driving in now, I'll wait until I get the official word to see what's up.

It appears to be ALL, and if your car has not been in for the seal replacement... in fact there appears to be no criteria for skipping those who *have* been in and replaced. I'm sure the dealers will be instructed to inspect, then replace. So if the rear end isn't showing signs of leaking, why touch it? I doubt it will be a carte blanche replace all, irregardless of symptoms.

I'm wondering the same thing. Mine's not going in unless I start having an issue.
