Just had my top replaced by the dealer

I just had my top replaced by the dealer, it was under warranty. It came as a complete package including the I metal support structure. The dealer finished the installation in three hours, they had never replaced one before. It looks great but it is a little hard closing it down in the trunk. I do have the acoustic headliner.

The reason my top was replaced is that it was tearing where the rubber seams come together right above the middle of the side window.

Has anyone else had their top replaced?

I have an 07 with this problem on the pasenger side. I think it happened during the winter time?
I have not had it replaced.
I too have the acoustic headliner.
Did your dealer say why it happened?

I did not ask the dealer why it happened but I think it may be a design flaw. I live in Florida and have had my 2007 GXP since November 7, 2006 and put the top down often.

Make sure that the dealer replaces the top and all mechanical parts. From what I found out about mine it came in one complete kit and was installed in three hours.

I just had my top replaced. A trim company came out to do the work because the tech. wasn't comfortable doing it. The trim person did a bad install and I refused to take it home. The dealership was very nice about it and sent it out to a high $ shop and now it's perfect.

On the drivers side behind the door it didn't go all the down to the body and it had a gap behind the window big enough to slip my hand in. The second installer said that he couldn't understad how they got the passenger side right, but couldn't do the left side. The pin on the butress didn't line up with the hole on the drivers side either.
They made it right and I'm happy.

My top started separating at the rear of the passenger door window. Dealer had it replaced by a local top shop. Excellent work, top fits and works great. I bought one of those top covers on Ebay, which fit over the yop only. Keeps my new top new when parked outside and fits great.

I have the same problem on both sides. Still waiting for parts after 2 months. The dealer is going to replace the entire top, mechanical parts and headliner.

I have been waiting since mid-October. They tried to fix it by replacing a few pieces but it didn't work so they had to order a new top that has been on backorder and they said finally arrived. I did get a nice courtesy call from GM a month ago at 7:30am on a Saturday morning asking how I liked my new top and if everything was working out okay.

I told them it may be 10:30 in the morning in Detroit, but it is 7:30 here in CA. and secondly no my top has not been fixed yet. So sorry our records are incorrect. We'll look into it and let you know.

Appt. next Tuesday. Keeping my fingers crossed.
