Missing Part in first 10,000. Read this! [hood weather strip]

Okay, I need help from someone that has a Sol after the 10,000 VIN. The newer Sols have an extra piece of weather stripping on the front quarterpanel above the scoop. It is better seen if you raise the hood. Can you take pictures and post them to this thread so those 10,000 and under can see what I mean?

I'm a before 10,000er and I notice that water collects in this ridge above the scoop after every wash. Then when I drive away, the car gets all wet, soapy, and dirty again. This isn't happening with the newer VIN's as the weather stripping prevents it. I showed this to the dealer, and they will be installing it for me on Mon.

Again, can someone post pics of it so everyone can see what I mean?
Thanks
Lance

In case I am not fully grasping where this is, when I open the hood the motor gets drenched from water running out of the edge that would be nearest the wipers when the hood is down.
I don't have any runoff when I wash and dry. The compressor blows out everything from everywhere.
However if this fix could prevent the water from getting into some of these places then all the better.

It is in between the hood and the front quarterpanel.

On the side of the car there is an indention with the Pontiac logo, right behind the front wheel. Follow this body panel right up to where it meets the hood. At this mating line there is a rubber gasket strip (aka weather stripping) that is attached to the edge. I noticed it too and found that most cars after vin 10,000 have it. Mine is 11,353 and has it. I'll take pics tonight and post it.

I think as newer Solstices come out, we'll just have to keep track of the revision being made. Hopefully we can trickle down this information to all the owners that got a hold of early Sols. One other thing I noticed, and I'm not sure if all cars already have this, is that my seatbelts have stitching that keep the clip up towards the top of the seats. This keeps the clip from sliding down the belt and tucking behind the seat at the bottom.

If I am understanding this correctly, then I wonder.......

.....is this added weather stripping used to keep out water, or might it be to help with the edge of the hood from getting chipped when closing it? New comers won't remember this, but last year GM Line Dog told us to keep the doors open slightly when closing the hood to prevent this.

My wife's car has a small black strip thing attached to the hood at the corner that runs along the bottom edge. I made a post about it a while back, and few people participated, but most thought it was a shipping protecter and was supposed to be removed by dealers during prep. I on the other hand believe it's supposed to be there as a corner/edge protector when closing the hood, so I left them on. I believe this because my wife's car has a chip in the paint in that very spot, on the inside of the hood. It's like it got chipped when they first closed it at the factory, then applied the black strips afterwards. Anyone else have these small black strips?

EDIT: Here is a link to my old thread that didn't get much feedback.2 Little Black Rubber Thingys?

Hey OBXSOL, if you've got your camera handy and you have some spare time, could you take a picture of the black strip close up from the inside with the hood up? It would show up great on a white car! My wife's is blue so it doesn't show up well, I've tried.

Thanks --- Bonzo

It will be very helpful to find out the revisions that come out on newere Sol's. My clip is always getting caught on the stitching when I go to buckle up.

#8756 has them. I would like to suggest to GM that they let us know of the improvements being made to the Solstice rather than have us trying to find out for ourselves. Many of you were on the cutting edge of this car and deserve to be kept up with the improvements. I for one want to improve on my car every time they do even if I have to pay for it.

Sorry for the bad news, but none of you have it so far. Ernie knows what I am talking about. The part looks like weather stripping in this area. It is not attached to the hood:
