Spare ECM Doesn't Work - Key & Lock displayed on Instrument Panel

Received spare ECM and tried it on my Solstice and:
- the starter would not even engage
- The instrument panel showed me a lock and key

Went back to original ECM, and everything worked fine.

Does anyone know about how to make my spare ECM work?
Going to call the dealer tommorow to see what he can tell me.

Thanks,

here's VMS's ECM link
Vector Motorsports Solstice Performance ECM's ON SALE NOW!!

option 2 outlines a couple of items that you need to do

2. Core Exchange - We will ship you one of the cores from our inventory with our calibration already programmed including your vehicles VIN for an additional 100% refundable $300 deposit. This will require a three minute security learn done by turning the key on and off and possibly a crankshaft variation learn done by a dealership or someone with a high end CAN scan tool. This is a 5 minute procedure and nearly all dealerships wont even charge you for it or ask questions. This is a necessary evil to keep your engines Misfire detection working properly. If someone tries to sell you a tune that DOESNT need this they turned your misfire detection off

you're dealership can do this, as well as some local mechanics!

GL!

2020 do a search on ECM tunes. Someone had the same thing, and their is a procedure to unlock the ECM to your keys. They did it in a Wallmart parking lot, but I can't remember who it was.

The key recognition is seperate from the crankshaft variation learn.

No solstice support so that wont work, you'll need to do a 30 minute security learn (that is if it's already been programmed with the correct VIN ect..) and then get a crank learn.

Allow me to speak on his behalf.
There is a chance that he bought a spare ECM so that he can send one off to Hahn to be re-juiced and keep a stocker on hand.

So what's the deal? Get the piece working yet?

Ever think about taking the toy out at Cresson the same day as the TMS event? We can do the track day that morning/afternoon and still make a showing at TMS later in the day. Up for it?

Thanks tweety, that post did the trick!!!

The engine is now running with the spare ECM, but I have an engine light on.
Taking it to the dealer to have the LSD leak fixed on Monday, and they will fix the log the ECM to turn off the light.
That is unless you know of another trick to fix the light.

Thanks!!!!

Did you check your gas cap?
I notice on this board that when things don't work right that turning up the stereo seems to work wonders.
LSD leak eh? I just recently got the clunk after 6000 miles! I was under the car trying to see about removing paint from the rims when I noticed that the diff was damp. Nothing on the garage floor so maybe I don't have a failure-yet.
No worries, when the turbo comes in the guts in the diff will be replaced and I will replace the seals myself while I am in the neighborhood.
