Nylon, easy to cut (hacksaw), easy to shape (grinder or course file), easy to smooth
(cratex wheel or sandpaper). Works beautifully. I'll probably tweak it a bit since this the
first attempt. Nylon is very slippery, flexable & strong <perfect>. All it needed was a slightly longer screw & a.washer underneath to screw it firmly to the metal yet rest on top of the rubber. Plus I trimmed back the leading edge of the rubber so it wouldn't try to pinch the fabric. If the nylon piece is much longer or taller it binds with metal on the other half of the window frame when closed together(top up).
It does. The '06 has them. The '07 gxp at least with the headliner does not. Anyone with an '07 or '08 without headliner have tabs like the '06? I doubt its just a gxp that doesn't have them.

so they probably inadvertantly left it out of the manufactureing process
I guess the fix is for the dealer to order the 06 piece and add it to our car
I was just noticing that pinch point in the last few weeks.
Wondered what was causing it. Now I need to take it back to the dealer for a fix.

I'd be surprised if it was nylon, but I'm delighted to hear it has that piece. Now I'm curious if the people that have gotten new tops got them this time around.

we checked at the mod meet Saturday and all the 06's had plastic pieces in place and no wear.

I double checked and my 2008 GXP, with premium headliner, has a plastic end piece from factory and no apparent top wear yet. I can not tell if the plastic is nylon or not.
