   Yet another differential thread

Hey guys, first post here. I bought my 2006 solstice (4500 miles) about 3 weeks ago and within a week and a half the diff leak started. I took the car to the dealership and they said GM told them to replace the differential.

A week later, I have my car back . The rental they gave me was a yukon xl , but that's another story. The part number for the carrier is 25858218. They did add the gear lubricant (89021677). I've managed to find one thread on the boards that mentions this part number (25858218) but there was no actual answer to the question, which is: Will this fix the issue?

From what I've been able to understand, replacing the 06 differential with the newer version should resolve the problems with it, but I'm just not sure if this is the newer one or if this one will have a limited lifespan as well. Sorry if this question was answered somewhere else, but I swear I tried to find it .

thanks

Just had mine done last week. You can read about it in one of the threads.

The pinion seal has been replaced by GM with a kit that went to dealers a couple of months ago. I read that on the board. The new kit will be installed under the pinion seal leak recall happening in February.

You and I should have the new pinion seal, which is GM's fix for the leak. Other vehicles will be outfitted under the recall. I wouldn't worry about your new differential anymore than any other car you've owned.

You would have to assume that it was since they put in the additive.

The service invoice doesn't show the additive ... is it included with the part? (also: thanks for quick reply!!)
