it's not about owning anything, it's about a slight amount of respect for other people.

It's basically the "screw everyone else I will do what I want" attitude that makes people crazy. I dont care what people listen to,, I just care when I have to listen to it.

I just picked up my 08 Solstice, brand new, on Saturday. Had 10km on it. I hopped in today to go for a quick cruise down the strip and find that my right passenger door speaker is blown. The Monsoon sounds great, the bass is good when the top is up and doesn't escape too much so you don't have to worry about the people on this forum who are hating on the loudness ( probably all geezers). I was satisfied with it being a stock system as I have had other after-market systems installed in my previous vehicles. But that's soundwize. Qualitywize, having a car for four days and blowing a speaker (only travelling maybe 400km) with the system up about 75% with the top up doesn't really impress me. I would save your $300 or however much and put it into something that doesnt blow at jus above halfway. Just make sure you have a warranty dude. Good luck.

Usually the folks around me would start laughing or cheer - it was really, really funny and most often would get the point across. I cannot count the times this happened in the summer and the reaction was usually the same. Sometimes you have to get in the trenches to win the battle.

I took my wife's car to the car wash, quietly washing the car by hand. A guy and his girlfriend(?) were vacuuming their SUV, with all doors hatches open, blasting country & rock with ear screeching noise (i.e. no bass at all).
Me being the person that doesn't care for that music, gave them a few "would you mind?" looks, to no avail. So when it was time to vacuum -- opened the trunk, and all doors, and turned up the volume to whatever was on the hip hop station at the time with her 12" subs
DONE.

The moral here? hip hop isn't the only music that people don't want to be subjected to.

precisely - the moral of the story is don't be a douchebag.

the overall amount of douchbaggery in this thread is outstanding and there should be a clause in the rules that limits the amount allowed on the forum.

Too many douchebags in life overall! I deal with this kind of attitude all the time in my job, and it never fails to make me shake my head. The sense of entitlement is astounding at times.

I also listen to rap and hip hop, and I don't care what anyone else listens to, and I don't care if they don't like my choice of music. It's MY choice.

Having said that, I LOVE the monsoon sound, you do have to play with the EQ. I wouldn't want more sound because I think I'd damage my ears.

I play it loud on highways and rural areas, NOT in residential areas. When I pull up to a light I turn it down.

Is that respectful enough for everyone? Wow this crowd gets cranky sometimes. Why would we insult the type of music one listens to?

The man had a genuine question about the Monsoon system. Why it turns into insults is beyond me.

wow reading comprehension owns you.

no one cares what music you listen to, just be respectful. one douche said he could care less and people responded in kind.

yes, your actions pass evaluation.

I'm quite sure you guys wouldn't like the music I listen to.
I don’t like rap,, I don’t like country. I have odd tastes in music. With that said, you wont be involuntarily subjected to what I’m listening to. I have enough common sense and respect to understand that it may be offensive to some people. So I keep it low enough that others don’t have to listen to it; with the odd exception of turning it up on the interstate (not blasting out the car next to me still though)

And it wouldn't make me happy to know that I’m both forcing other people to listen to my music, or infuriating them completely by blasting it. I'm not sure if it's the selfish attitude of "I’m better than everyone else " , or the actual enjoyment of other people’s misery that fuels a good percentage of this.

I really think it's a little of both. And if you just feel compelled to play it like that because you love the music then you obviously have never thought of people around you while you do it. I guess Apathy could play a role also.

Now the real question - does anyone watch porn while they drive?
I am sure that could take this thread to a totally different level.
Come on - somebody own up and take your flogging. I know with all the DVD install threads, somebody is guilty and they need to be flamed. BURN THEM, BURN THEM, BURN THEM!
