can you fit a 8" sub tube in the trunk?

i'm sure you could fit one but it will not help! the bass waves will just go out in every direction and it won't be the same as when you put a sub in the trunk of a car or in the back of a hatchback... it would be like putting the sub in the back of a pickup truck. either you find a way to put the sub in the cabin with you (will help but don't expect too much) or find shakers. a shaker is a small device that hooks up to your speakerwire and shake as if it were bass from a sub.. they really are neat... they will not produce sound though...

The Monsoon audio package uses 3.5" speakers that go behind the driver and passenger's seat. However, the JBL 4" speakers use the same cutout dimensions as the Monsoon 3.5" ones. I haven't seen any pictures but at least I found many specs on the web.

DDM Stage II and Spec 2+ clutch/flywheel finally installed :)

I have the speakers in the back as well, and I don't have the monsoon setup!! They sound like crap anyway,.. I just fade to the front to get rid of the distortion.. Besides the bad radio reception, those speakers in the back just add to it..

Ordered the Solstice: Black with leather, steering wheel controls, A/C delete (who needs A/C in a convertible). Custom turbo kit, maybe!

Did you order the monsoon package and then swapped the speakers? Or would you advice someone who'd want to do this and hasn't ordered yet to skip the monsoon package and just make sure he gets the nice head unit and XM radio to make use of the nicer speakers? In other words, are all grills/wiring/whatever else needed in place for this setup without the monsoon package?

(looking forward to pictures as well)

I'd look for a car with Monsoon, that way you know you will be good to go with the headunit that has line-outs and pre-wiring for driving amps. Also, the system is actually very good so you would also have the option of keeping it or ugrading it slowly (part-by-part) in the future.

Kicker COMP-VR 8 Inch 2x20HM Subwoofer
JBL CS50.4 Amp
Custom Enclosure for Sub
Rear Mounted Amp with Custom Enclosure
Dynamat Entire Rear Panel Area
Dynamat Underneath Both Doors
Custom Grill Through Factory Panel

Total Cost $1236.15

Good Tunes in your Car: Priceless!

Did you have the Monsoon system to begin with? Where did you put the crossovers and did you put the tweeters in the A pillar in factory location or somewhere else? I take it the Kicker sub was too deep to put in the same location as the Monsoon sub. I'm sure it sounds improved, but I can imagine that keeping the stock head unit is really keeping down some of the potential of the other new equipment.
