I bought a GM LAN interface from Best Buy (smart enough to leave it in the package), pulled the radio and saw the stock harnesses clearly don't fit in the interface. I could have trusted the pictures I've seen here, but I guess I wanted to see for myself. So I called Scosche and they still don't have an interface yet. They also said they don't think Metra or AI have one yet either. Since our DIC is in a different place, the Malibu Scosche kit doesn't work either.
Oh, and for those that haven't taken their dash apart yet, but plan on it to change out the head unit, be warned the clips make a horrible sound when pulled out. It will sound like you just broke the dash. It made me panic, until I notice it was just the sound of the clips.

I also got a PM stating there's not a good speed wire anywhere in the car. (1)Does anyone have access to the gauge cluster wiring to see where the speedo wire is? (I need that for the navigation unit.)

One more thing: (2)where is the grommet in the front firewall (where I would run a 1 gauge power wire from the battery to the cabin)? (3)Since the battery and fuses are on the passenger side, is there a hole on the same side I can drop the power wire through, or will I have to run it across the engine bay to the driver's side? (4)Also is there a standard battery terminal post adapter I can use to connect said power wire?

I think that's all for now. Obviously I'm gearing up for a pretty intense install (DVD, nav, Sirius, Music Keg, speakers (maybe custom fit 6" or 6x8s in rear), sub (w/ custom enclosure), two or three amps, 1F capacitor...and none of it in the trunk if at all possible). Yes, me =

Just installed: 2-subwoofer full stereo system. Still waiting on pics.
Coming next: probably nothing unless my wife wants to get my a new exhaust (yeah right).

:woohoo:METRA HAS A GM LAN INTERFACE THAT KEEPS THE CHIMES!!:woohoo:

I called Metra this afternoon and they said the GMOS-LAN-03 works for the Solstice (it's the same as the HHR, which does have the same wiring harness). This harness works with OnStar (hence the OS in GMOS), and works without (the Metra tech just said don't plug that part in). Just Google "GMOSLAN03" and you'll find quite a few vendors.

I'm trying to find some place around here that has the harness so I can confirm and get pics.

I used the SoundGate Lanstar3 for my OnStar and chimes in my SKY.

(1)I am trying to remember the exact location of the wire we used when installing my AVIC-Z1... it is a wire coming out of the transmission.

(2)Haven't done that part yet, but will be shortly when I add the rest of the system. Will let you know if you haven't already done it.

(3)Same as above... but I am thinking it will only be one side.

(4)Stinger and Tsunami both have items you could use for your battery/wire connections.

(1) I don't have the exact wire color, but you could grab it from behind the dash...but the best way is to go into the engine bay

(2) I ran my power wire through the main grommet that all the wires pass through right above the fuse box in the passenger compartment... That way you don't have to drill any holes, and you could seal any unwanted air holes with caulking.

(3) Yes, like stated above, directly below and a little to the right of the battery, there is the main grommet, with a bunch of wires loomed together.

(4) I went to the auxillary power terminal (the one you don't have to reach down into the engine bay for) to get my power. It's by the fuse box in the enigine bay....you could reach down and tap onto the battery itself, but it doesn't matter, cause they are shared power sources. The one by the fuse box doesn't need an adapter, the one and the battery might.
