how do i go back to the beginning of a song without going to the previous song?
and no, turning the car off and then on is not an option
Yeah, this is an annoying issue. No way to restart a song without scrolling back through the entire song. Not only that but if in "shuffle" mode, once a song ends, it's gone. Hitting the previous button will not bring you back to the song that just played. A new song will be played. It's like it's shuffling on the fly forward or backwards.
Still prefer this hook up opposed to the aux plug and cable route. Hands down. Just definitely some imperfections with the interface/features.

I had PAL installed in my GXP last weekend (have only had my Solstice for 3 weeks). When I first got the car back, looks like they didn't do the Tech 2 upgrade so XM wasn't working. And I do like using my XM. I took it back and now it is working.
I didn't realize when I first got it (I obviously didn't do enough research) that it would cycle through Ipod and XM every other time you tune in to XM. And I do find that somewhat annoying when trying to use XM or getting to the Ipod. Also if it knows the Ipod is not connected, it should automatically just go to XM instead of having to cycle anyways. Would have been better if you could cycle to the Ipod as a seperate band of some sort. I don't think that could be too hard to integrate seeing as it seems some aftermarket modules have something like that. So I do find trying to get to the Ipod or XM process somewhat annoying with all the cycling. Had I known I may have considered an aftermarket module more closely. But I wouldn't say its a deal breaker. The Ipod controls can be confusing at first, but I've only had it for a day and I think its just a matter of getting used to. I was less frustrated by the end of the day then when I first started using it. The software can be a little sluggish. Could be made more intuitive. Like a "select" button similar to the center Ipod button that while your scrolling actually selects that option. Maybe the info button could have been used for that.
Overall I think its a pretty good system but could use and has room for some improvement.

Occasionally my XM will just switch back and forth to iPod mode for no apparent reason. Sometimes it seems to work just fine. I'm still checking to see if certain conditions cause this to happen. I think if you are not on the channel setting while in XM, like if you have song or artist as your info. That may cause it. Has anyone else experienced this?

Has not happened to me, but mine is set to put the song title through the "channel" setting -- but it reminds to to switch the "i" setting.

Mine does the XM channel switching intermittently also. I will be listening to an XM channel then on it's own, without touching any buttons, it switches to XM0 (PAL mode) and then eventually switches back to the XM channel I was previously listening to. And this does this regardless if the IPOD is plugged in or not.
Will be going back to the dealer in the spring when the car goes back on the road. If they can not fix it I am having them take the PAL unit out and will go back to Aux input for the IPOD.
I would get this because it was supposed to have atleast the basic iPod controls inegrated into the radio head unit and steering wheels controls. If you can't even go back to the beginning of a song without going to the previous song and then skipping forward I wouldn't consider that even partially integrated. I'd rather use the aux input. Hopefully they fix these minor issues, because the potential for this is great.

Yah mine has the same problem. I've been trying to try different things to see, if a particular situations causes it. I've talked to the dealer and they said they did the Tech 2 update. But its still does that "hick up". I'm going take mine in later this week to have them look at it again.
I actually do like the system, the more I use the more I like it. There are some things I would change or maybe they should update but overall its quite good. I just wish I could get my XM to work flawlessly along with the PAL.

I hear ya but it's really nice having the iPod tucked away in the glove, charging, and shutting off when you shut the car off. The aux input route just isn't very clean with the wire and need to find somewhere to put the iPod close by to control it. Also, if you forget to manually shut it off each time you park, you can drain your iPod's battery.

I was going to get this, but it looks like i will pass for now.
I agree. Now I just plug in my iphone and set it in the cupholder or on the console. Works great, sounds great. Simple. No lag with song selection, no jumping back and forth with the xm. I wanted one of these before, but not after reading about all the issues with them. That would drive me nuts (yes, that's a short trip, I know),
