First, the "layout", I have used the head unit "how to" and it's been a huge help

Boomerang out

Phew, that's all out... some of the plugs on the upper switches were a little stubborn, but patience prevailed.

Then came a sudden revelation, I ordered the wrong wiring harness from PAC... However, after a bit of reading and a trial run, the OS-311 appears to work despite my car not having On-Star. The chime module from PAC works just like it should and according to the instructions, there are a couple extra wires that will have to be spliced together. So, I won't get chimes from the auido speakers, but I'm OK with that.

More to follow later, it's beer time.

Thanks, I'm getting better at this, it's the 3rd full install I've done for the wife in the past 5 years or so. She keeps changing cars on me.

Onward we go, the interior is completely out and I have started the wiring puzzle.

Seats out YAY!!!, curse the dude that attached the bottom seat belt point to the side of the seat and not the floor.

Here's where the stock sub resides

IT'S GONE!

Door panel off, whew what a PITA, of course they hid some screws under a secret panel in the door....

Shot of the wall behind the driver's seat. This is where the Sirius equip will go as well as the cross overs for the front components.

The WTFBBQ moment of the night came when I discovered there is a fuse panel hidden under the passenger side carpet, who thought that up?

Ah yes, the wiring, what you see hear is everything needed to add an aftermarket radio and maintain all the cars functions.... 3 MF'n harnesses, 2 adapter/conversion boxes, a bit of soldering and some electrical tape.... DONE!

Now it's on to the rest of the wiring and speaker install, plus some beer here and there.

Finally another update, after working on this for the past two weekends I am nearing completion. There were some snags that I was not expecting, but I was able to fabricate/modify parts to get it all together.

A shot of the trunk before everything came out

Here you can see most of the wiring and get somewhat of an idea where it goes. 3M heavy duty double sided tape was used to secure everything in it's final location.

Small cuts were made in the carpet to allow the wires to pass through.

This is where the cross overs and the Sirius Sat equip ended up. Everything fit well and made sense for wiring.

A couple pics of the speaker wire I used, all in total there is about 50 feet of this stuff in the car. Connections to the front component were made through the factory wiring from the stock amp because once I looked at the wire routing for the front doors, there was no way I was going to tackle that. FYI the stock wiring goes from the amp on the rear wall, up through the firewall, into the engine bay and then around the outside of the body to the door.

Thanks Yamatr3

MORE!!!!

Some shots comparing the new CDT sub to the stocker. The CDT sub fit into the stock enclosure fairly well. In the end I had to trim the ribs inside the box and take the rubber magnet cover off the sub.

Some before and after pics of the trimming done to the sub enclosure. The bolt hole was sealed up w/ some plastic epoxy. I also had to redrill the mounting holes because the CDT has a slightly smaller diameter.

Shot of the CDT sub in the stock box w/ Damplifier added.

The front tweeters were mounted in the stock location using plastic epoxy and plumber's tape. I have used this method successfully on previous installs.

Interior shot showing off the 30 sq ft of Damplifier added. Damplifier is a butyl based sound deadener from Second Skin similar to Dynamat Extreme, but cheaper.

Rear speakers required a little work to get them in. I had hoped 4" would be a better fit. I had to trim down the mounting studs and some of the ribbing on the inside of the trim panel, but it turned out nice.

For anyone considering changing the door speakers, I had a little trouble finding the mounting screws in the door. Here's a few shots showing where they are.

Thanks, ran into a bit of a snag last night, the car would not start. After talking to Wester's it appears my lunacy is the cause. I installed the PAC harness for a car w/ OnStar because I had inadvertently ordered the wrong one and I figured I could get it to work, fail. So the new "correct" harness is on the way, should be here tomorrow.

looks great. Your 100% correct on the whole firewall issue( there is no easy way through it). I installed a amp in mine and between the power for the amp and the door speaker wire upgrade it was brutal. I found it easest to pull the front fender rocker panels( this gives you more room and a easier path to the factory wiring looms to add a pair)

metra makes a company called axxess that makes a great 1 unit wiring harness as well, maintains all factory equipment including onstar and chimes with vol control on both.. easy to install, works great in my car..

your install looks really clean, but is you power line ran with the rca's? many times that can lead to noise, that wiring looks amazing, great work! cant wait to see it all done!

Curious, are you waiting for parts to arrive? If this was my install, I would be chomping at the bits to finish it so I could listen to the results and drive the car.
Nice work so far!
