While I was picking up the car, I looked at a Torrent. It had the LCD screen with the GPS map functions. The radio in it seemed to be the same footprint as the Solstice. Anyone think we could put that radio in our cars?

The size of the radio in the solstice is knows as double din. You are able to fit almost any aftermarket touchscreen navigation into the slot. You may need a bunch of extra adapters and wiring to maintain all the functionality of the DIC though. Not 100% sure if you can just get teh upgraded radio from the torrent as you described. When I get my GXP I plan on a full audio install including Nav. I'm looking at the Pioneer Avic-Z1; Eclipse AVN6600 or Alpine IVA-w200 (with nav). In a few months I will have much better knowledge of what works and what you need to get it running properly.

OK, so I just went and looked at the Torrent GM pages and the unit seems like it is the same size (therefore double-DIN like ours?), the Torrent has a DIC (so would it have connectors we need to keep ours working?), and it should be orderable from GM and be a virtual "drop-in" to our cars?

OK, all you GM, audio, and mod experts.... Will it, or will it not, work in a Sol?
Sure would change my Christmas list!!

Can you describe this experience more completely and why it will not work please. Why would it not hook up electricly? 12 volt is 12 volt, so what is the issue?
