So yesterday afternoon I was running a couple errands on the way home. Drop the top, crank it up and go!!! I pulled into Bevs n More to stock up for a party next weekend, and found a parking space. I sat for a couple seconds before I opened the door and the stereo turned off; nothing out of the ordinary.
I finish my shopping, set the bag in the passenger seat, and get in and start up the car.... no music. I had been listening to a CD, so I just figured it was between songs, nope. I changed to the tuner... no sound.
When I got home, I left the car alone for a couple hours, figuring that if it wasn't just a fuse, it would need to go to the shop tommorrow. After dinner, I pulled the fuse and tested it; no problems. The Amplifier fuse is in under the passenger floormat, and they fit in pretty tight, so I don't think it was loose, but when I put it back in and turned on the ignition, the stereo started right up.
I've driven back and forth to work a couple times since, and there has been no problem at all.
Besides a loose connection which would have shown itself before this, does anyone have a clue as to what it may have been? I did set the wine into the passenger seat without opening either door, could that have caused the problem? I haven't tried to re-create the scene, but I thought it was really strange.
If it happens again, I'm lookin' for a exorcist for the Sol... Maybe I should have just gone back into the liquor store...

I too have had similar problems. Not with the CD, but with the AM & FM radio. I did not try the CD when I experienced the problem. XM continued to work however. It has happened more than once. Dealer could not duplicate the problem. Also, XM radio, I occassionally lose the left speaker. Next time either happens, I am driving straight to the dealer.
couple of people have had simular problems that were fixed with a software upgrade on the radio.

The display was fine, and showed any and all adjustments (increase/decrease in volume, speaker adjustments, etc), but I do not remember hearing the chimes. If it ever happens again, I'll be sure to pay attention. I think that if I have the opportunity to take it right to the service department while it is still not working, that would be the best, but hopefully it won't happen again!

twice now I have started the car with the radio already off. but when the car started the speakers were huming and hissing like they had power to them. turn the radio on and off and the sound went away.
Same thing happend to me. The AM reception would disappear completely, but FM would be okay. Later FM would stop also. All functions of the Stereo worked properly but no sound. Stop the car and start it again later, the radio worked fine. It happened more and more often, so during my commute home from work it happened again, I pulled into the dealer, left the car running and had the Service tech look it over. He decided replacing the unit was the only option and after 2 days in the shop I have new Stereo. While the car was in the shop I had them look at the rear differential which was leaking and after checking with "Detroit" they have ordered a new unit and will replace it in 2 weeks. P.S. 5200 miles on the odometer.
Just got my black devil last March. License plates have a 666! Just Freaky! and loving it!
Waiting for light to change, with the radio on, sudenly volume goes up higher and higher, I could see the volume bar getting bigger. Coulndt make sense of what was happening...looked around to see if someone in other car was pointing gadget for volume to go up, but I was only car on my side of the street...just weird.

We has a problem with our radio just shutting itself off. We would have to turn the car off and open the door to disonnect any electrical inputs, and then restart the car to have the radio work again. Ya look like a complete idiot at a stop sign/light doing this, lol. Brought the car into the shop, and after several hours they decided to just order a new radio. We didn't get the standard radio, one level up, but not the top of the line one. Went back the next week and had a new radio installed. Pulled out of the lot and a great song came on, turned the volume up and kept turning and kept turning. While the display showed the bars as far as they would go, the volume was halfway where it should be, and that was as loud as it would go. Turned right around, pulled back in, mechanics fuddled around with it for ten minutes or so and asked me to come back the next day as they were going to have to talk with Corporate about this issue. They were able to reprogram the radio the next day and now everything works fine.
i have a problem with the aux input. i plug in my iPhone to play tunes, i never use the radio. sometimes (more and more often) the left side goes dead or plays about half volume of the right side. sometimes the bass goes away, sometimes the treble goes away. iPhone works fine in other cars through the aux slot. sometimes after going over a bump the left side goes dead. when i unplug the aux, it goes back to the radio as it should. but then it keeps switching back and forth from aux to radio repeatedly even though there's nothing plugged in. i think the aux jack is messed up. it annoys the hell out of me, but i'm waiting for it to get worse before i waste my time with the dealership just to have them tell me "we can't duplicate it".
