For those interested in renewing their XM radio subscription at a discount, you will be happy to know that using "ZWINBACK" as a promo code for $77 for one year still works. How do I know? I just did it yesterday (June 18) without a hitch. My 3 month trial was about to expire. I called 1-800-892-5400 (instead of the number on my papers. I got it from an XLR site). First I heard a recording from "Kaitlin" a digital receptionist. Then "Carlos" came on and I told him my trial was about to expire and I wanted to see if I could get a promotional rate I had heard about, I thot through GM. He asked for my radio ID, name, and address verification. Then he asked what I was interested in. That's when I said I was interested in the promo using code "ZWINBACK". He said just a minute, and when he came back he said it was $77 for one year, and I would have to give a credit card since it was a promotion.
OK, if you are like me, I did a lot of searches on this before I tried it. The latest success I found was back in Oct 06, so this is an update.
I found several suggested phone numbers. This was the first one I tried and it worked. I never lied about anything (although my reference to GM was meant to be a general one, i.e. thru a GM-related website) and had he asked anything else I would have told him...such as car type, etc. But I suppose that was already tagged to the radio ID. If I hadn't gotten the deal I probably would not have renewed. In a year, I'm hoping the merger with Sirius goes thru and they keep their word about offering ala carte subscriptions. I only listen to one station 99.9% of the time.
Give it a try if you want to save over the $12+/month rate.

It just worked for me too. Called the # above, said I had promo code ZWINBACK, answered a few questions about my account & now I'm set for a year of service at $77.
Rich,
You are the dude! I just did as you said and I'm all set for $77/yr. From what the guy said, they wll renew me in a year automatically at the same rate as well. Thanks, I'm leaving for Nashville in the AM and this will be great company down and back.-bird

I got that rate by accident I called back in Feb to cancel my service, because of a Customer Service issue (long story). Long story short, I was offered the $77 plan without asking for the "deal." ... funny thing is the whole issue was over me wanting to pay the old monthly rate ($9.95) which was alot more than the rate given to me. Either way, I LOVE XM and it is a life save on my long commutes home to AL. (Just wish their CS was better)

...or just threaten to cancel They offered me $77/year immediately.
When my trial period was up they wouldn't offer me anything. they were obstinate and very expensive. They were asking around $12.95. I refused, that was last December. This is half that price.

I read that same story in other forums. I guess it depends on who you get on the phone. One person said to write down the name they give you and call back later if you don't get the deal you want. If it's the same person, hang up.
Now should be a good time to get a deal, since the merger question has gone, or soon will go to the public for opinions on its approval.

Thanks so much all, my 3 month subscriptions was ready to expire. I just called and got the $77 promo rate plus they gave me a $12.95 credit for using my credit card for billing.

I also called on 6/19 and just said I wanted to renew and that I had an offer in the mail for 77 for a year... the guy said OK I can help you with that.
No code required.
I think the BIG words are CANCEL and Renewal for 77.00. If you say you want to cancel they will send you to their Recovery Dept and you will get the 77.00 deal.
this is a great tip!! i just got something in the mail yesterday to continue my subscription for $12.95/mo etc. i still have about 2 months to go on my 3 month trial tho, i just hope this deal will still work by then. unless, is it suggested that i subscribe now and take advantage of the $77/year deal? what do you guys think?

I am in the same situation and renewed at $77 a few days ago. They will not bill you for the one year service until your trial period expires. I suggest that you lock in the good price now.
