I told a friend of mine to try the Zwinback deal. When he called (last week) he was told it was not available any more. He hung up and called back and was told the same thing. He then talked to a supervisor who told him the same thing

I don't know about that. They sent me a bill for $154 for the 2d year. I, of course, called them to cancel unless they agreed to give me the $77 again for my second year. They seem to play a lot of games with pricing.

I didn't see the deal on the xm web site. How and where do you get it?
Thanks.
Step 1: Call 800-682-4114
Step 2: Say "I want 5 months for 20 bucks"
Step 3: (If yes, say thank you)(If no, say goodby and repeat)
This worked on my first try with absolutly no push back. I also mentioned that I bought the car used recently (Yes I really did) and heard about 3 free months service. She gave it to me too! 8 months of XM for $20!!!

Yes, but the letter they sent me came well before the renewal date. If I hadn't called they would have charged my credit card the $154. I have read that some people got the deal without giving them a credit card. But if you already did, they will charge it unless you intercede. Remember though, you may still have the free 3 months left before the year started. I did, so my bill came about 14 months after I began the service and about 1 month before it would renew.

However, if you want the $77/year deal, tell them you heard about the "zwinback" promotion. AKA "winback" by some.

Yeah, I am invoice only. She asked for my credit card but I said no. They will bill me.
2 dollar invoice fee though. Making your deal 79 bucks a month if you don't use a credit card.

I was quoting the price from the website itself when I clicked the renewal button. It had a long list of prices from 1 month to 5 years.

slusamson had told me that sometimes XM procrastinates on cutting off service to you and you can end up getting the service for free for a few months. Anybody run into an instance like that?
This deal is great to know as I will probably be using it as long as its still around when my XM comes close to renewal.

I just bought my Solstice as well, called the 800 number listed in this thread, and mentioned that I would like to take advantage of the promo. I did not even have to say another word as the receptionist asked if it was the 77 for one years service promo. I said yes and that the car was new, so she also gave me the first 3 months free plus the year at 15 months for 77 with no activation fee. Great deal, thanks!

I haven't researched how XM removes channels or blocks your access to the sat's but when I started my XM service again I was told to leave the radio on for 20 minutes to download the channels.
When my service ran out last year it took almost 2 months for the channels to slowly disappear. (leaves me wondering if you can block XM from your radio once it's downloaded all the channels.)
