Sorry for the late reply I just found your post!

I think it is just the wording so they can offer me a lower price. It is a one yr deal that if I want I can transfer to a computer if I wish while my car is in storage!

XM Renewal / Account Consolidation - Went well!

Greetings -

Our family already had 4 XM radios, and then we added the Solstice. My 3 months finally expired about a week ago, and the service started to die - I could still get the last channel I had been on (POTUS08), but nothing else.

Wanted to figure out some way to add this to my account, without paying too much more. I called XM, and asked about my options. I could add the Solstice radio to my existing account for $6.95/month, but it was kind of bugging me that with four radios already, I was paying $12.95/month for the first radio, when others with only one radio were paying about $6.50 with the promo. I was told that I could get the ZWINBACK promo, but that still left me paying more for my first radio.

Took a little bit of haggling, and asking for a supervisor, but it worked out well. I said that I had been a good customer since 2004, so why should I be spending more on my radio? They seemed to see my logic. They added the ZWINBACK promo to my PRIMARY (existing) radio for one year, and then added the Solstice radio to my account for the normal $6.95. So I ended up with all 5 sets for about what I was already paying, at least for a year.

Let's just hope the bill for next month looks right...

So have persistence!

My original one year Zwinback @ $77 subscription was due to expire on Oct. 3rd. Hearing from you folks that they automatically renew your subscription at full price when it expires (using the original credit card info), I called XM today so that wouldn’t happen..
After wading through all of the automated message options, I finally got through to a rep who could barely speak English. I told this individual that I was calling to inform them that they should not renew my subscription when it expired. He asked why I was not renewing and I replied that I didn’t use the service enough to warrant the cost.
He then asked if he could transfer me to a customer service rep (I don’t know who the first guy was – thought he was a customer service rep??).
Any how, the second guy, who had a better command of the English language, asked me all of the same questions over again. I explained that the only reason I signed up originally was based on the fact that I could justify the service at $77 (as a result of my limited use), but not at the full price. He proceeded to list all of the features of XM Radio and asked if I was aware of them. I informed him that I was well aware of all that XM had to offer. He then asked if all of that was not worth $144/yr. I answered NO and he promptly and without the slightest hesitation offered to renew my subscription for an additional year at $77.00.
They will bend when it becomes apparent that they are about to lose an account.

That was exactly my experience when I renewed. I suspect it's easier if you just call to cancel rather than first asking for the same deal.

Yup, same thing happened to me today. Told them I would not renew because now that they have commercials, the origonal price seemed too high. They offered me $77 per year if I would keep my service.

I just did the $77.00 first year deal. I used the ZWINBACK promo code, and the young lady helping me knew just how to handle it.

While I had her on the phone, I asked about combo plans for folks who have XM and Sirius equipped vehicles. She stated that they have not yet introduced multi receiver discounts that cross over, but should have something in the next month or so.
