Amplifier: need to route power cabling to interior of car to amp--??

Many thanks to anyone who can advise where is the best location to route the power cabling from the battery to the interior of the car to the amplifier.

If anyone has a photo or can take one of the routing of the cable, that would be phenomenal.

Mine is routed just under the glove box. You will see the firewall there.

Same here.....under glove box....above the fuse box. I believe there was a boot there.

I cannot recall anyone ever posting about the existance of a usable opening through the firewall, and it looks to me like the boot that is there is completely full.

If you have additional wiring pulled through there I too would love to see a picture of how it was done.

Well...I just did.
I'd have to check, but i'm pretty sure there was a boot in there, and I poked my own hole in it. Just small enough to pressure it though and then when you slide a 4 ga wire in there it's pretty much water proof.
As far as pics....good luck. Just poke your head in there and look around.....get cha hands dirty!

I have "poked my head in there" and then some, but couldn't see anything that looked usable. I thought a picture would help me see what I couldn't before.

Power Wire Routing

The main grommet through the firewall from the engine compartment is huge. It is stuffed really tight with a big bundle of wires, but the flat areas around it provide about 3/4 to 1 inch of unused space all the way around the wire bundle. There is no problem with punching a hole through this area...except the rubber is pretty strong and you'll need something like an awl to get through it. There are two layers to the grommet, if you punch through from the interior you'll break through the first layer and think you're done, but you have to keep going to get through the outer layer on the engine-bay side. You might also be able to stretch the existing opening and use some silcone wire lube to get a cable that big through it, but I wasn't patient or strong enough to figure out how. As others have said, punching a hole will still be water proof because the rubber will stretch to fit the cable you are pulling through it, and it has two layers as well. If you are still concerned you could use some sealant or tape, but I saw no need to and have had no issues with air or water leaks.

I have to get you some pictures. But I have my amp and capacitor in the trunk. I ran the power cable under the car along with the fuel lines. (Yeah I know, this doesn't sound like a genious at work here. Power and fuel don't mix) But I have it go down there, up over the engine by the oil filter and oil filler cap, the over to the battery. I have the power cables wrapped with that plastic protector stuff and zip tied to the fuel lines underneath and to various parts of the body. To get it into the trunk, I just fed it up through the middle of the hard plastic pole things.
