it says hood pins are required but I am owned several c/f hoods and never needed hod pins. Whats everyone think of this.

Our cars shouldn't need hoodpins since we have a dual rear latch. And with the hinges being up front to hold it down, I don't see the need for hood pins.
Just checked the site. Some were saying that the Vis c/f hood was fiberclass coated in carbon fiber. The site says it is 100% carbon fiber. I'm getting one - wallet permitting

My guess is it will need minimum of FOUR hood pins...One at every corner....If they didn't build hardware inthe back, I doubt they did up front....this is probably a lift on/lift off hood....That would explain the lower price.
Carbon fiber is running about $60/yd (30" x 36") I figure the solstice hood will take 5-6 yd per layer...figure minimum 2 layers...Thats ~~$650 Just for the Carbon fiber...does not include resin, or labor, or Mold making cost or PROFIT. The Mold and the labor have to be high on this hood with all the curves and angles. Unless their getting on heck of a deal on Carbon weave or using Black kevlar instead....Cause Boeing and DOD have been buying up ALL the good stuff and driving the price up for that last couple years.

Tell me about it. $1200 got me very little. 7.5gal epoxy kit, peelply, vacuumbag and breather fabric, a whopping 6 yards of car/kev color weave. Most places have a per-customer limits in place. Very little bolts( 100yard rolls) to be bought and they want big $$-no price breaks for QTY.
Things like hoods are best done with steel or aluminum tooling (requiring a date with a BIG 3/4 axis machine like a Haas TR11) because if there are any errors you can really see it Due to the hood's size. If your looking for raw CF finish, the mold and weave layout must be perfect.
There is a tooling grade CF that looks alot like particle board. It's supposed to be autoclaved at more than 300F and post cured over 500F. It's then machinable and proported to hold tolerance like metal, even at autoclave temps. It's made by Hexcell and again is extremely hard to get right now. It was developed for making aircraft parts that were too large and expensive to make a metal mold of.

Reason: atrocious grammatical errors
Also keep in mind that it won't have provisions for any of the seals and weatherstripping present on the stock hood, and from personal experience mounting that stuff is a PITA.
Also in my experience VIS weave tends to not be even, their gel/clearcoat yellows and turns white quickly, even if kept clean and waxed, and fitment isn't all it's cracked up to be.
The last car I had used one, and if I hadn't needed it for engine clearance, it would have gone the hell back when it was first installed.
That hood went way up in price. Yes carbon has gone up, but everybody is using that excuse. That hood was 500 once. I came out on ebay earlier this year from vis, and then dissapeared. I think I posted it once.

This means there using polyester resin instead of Epoxy resin...Polyester resin is a lot cheaper, but does give the appeareance or performance
