Factory XM antenna removal

Could someone please tell me how the factory xm antenna is mounted on the trunk lid?

Is it just one hole in the lid ?

I'm trying to get rid of that thing since I'll never use XM radio, and was trying to avoid having to take it all apart, and put it back together, waiting for my part to arrive and take it apart again.

Welcome to the forum. There will no doubt be several folks who know exactly what the mounting is like.

Now, you have me curious--what part are you waiting to arrive? And why would you have to "put it back together"? I never took mine off, but by the very nature of antennas, there would have to be at least one pass-through hole in the trunk lid, and possibly a second smaller hole for alignment or mounting.

If you do decide to take it off in advance, you could always use some adhesive tape to seal the pass-through hole(s) until your part arrives....

Since there is a pass-through hole for the trunk lid, I'm going to speculate that the part you're waiting to arrive requires some electricity...

Do tell--what in the world are you up to?

It is bolted on from the underneath. Will need to pull back the decklid liner a bit to get to it.
And yes it also has a second smaller hole for the alignment pin on the mount.
Replaced the sharkfin on my SKY with a Vauxhall emblem.

Why not just leave it? You -may- want to use it someday (or a future owner?). Also, XM seems to have one free channel -- for weather. This could be moderately useful. AFAIK, it is also the same antenna for OnStar, which you didn't say if you had.

Finally, it sounds like you would have two holes to plug up.

Now you went and got me curious....why did you select a Vauxhall emblem
to cover the holes instead of something that is in the same genre of the
car?

The design of the Sky is derived from the Vauxhall Lightning. Note: If you look at the back of the Sky you will see a "V" formed by the reverse lamp and the inboard shape of the tail lamp assemblies. Guess what "V" stands for ?
