I just installed this on my GXP and it is a great product.
BUT, two items that will make things go more quickly and easily.
First, the instructions state that you can go online for specific vehilce info, but there nothing for the Solstice. I played around with my test light and determined that the green and black wires are the ones to tap into.
Second, after I hooked up the wires and confirmed that I had the right ones, the transmitter would not work. I called the toll free number shown on the instructions and reached a real person immediately. I explained the situation and I was told that many of the vehicle transmitters had not been programed for the wall receiver at the factory. This can be done by pushing a paper clip into the smaiil hole on the receiver for about 5 seconds. I followed those directions and now all works as advertised.
No need to try to figure out where to put the opener anymore.
Like mentioned above... just use the outside wires on the Solstice, and all is fine.
And for the wall mounted receiver... I think I had to do the same thing for my second box. I bought one "kit", that worked fine. I bought a second transmitter, and it wasn't paired with the receiver. The little paper clip "reset" function worked fine. I just had to then flash both systems, but both work perfectly.
1) A second remote for my garage door opener was something like $50, as I couldn't find a generic one that worked. So.. this was little added costs.
2) There wasn't a good place to keep the new remote in the Solstice
3) I wanted to give my current remote (only one) to my girlfriend... so I needed to get two remotes for both cars (my Sol and my winter car). This meant this system was now fairly priced for me
In the end.. it's great. No holes in my car, no need to wire anything like the other mods (which are great.. just not what I wanted) and it's cheaper than getting a homelink rearviewmirror which was my other option I considered.
If you are thinking about it.. then do it. It's great, it's easy, and no remotes to loose ever again.
I did something exactly like this with my motorcycle. (2006 GSX-R 600) It has a "pass" button, which flashes the high beam. Although what I did is I took one of the cheap (maybe $20) 12v garage door openers and wired it to my switch. Then I just hid the opener out of site. Works great and is cheaper if you don't mind doing some of your own wiring and possibly soldering.
My next plan is to go to the junkyard and yank one of those garage door openers that some cars have on the visors. Not sure if it will work, but I'll check into it.
I just ordered mine - the less I have to grab/steal in my car - the better!!

Well I just installed Lucy's newest addition, the "Flash To Pass" remote garage door opener. I appreciate ALL the help and the pic's from "rlhammon" and "laserone" from their install.
I did my install slightly different, and the only problem I had was I had to use the paper clip to reset the wall mounted receiver.
As you can see from the pic', I put the wire taps to the right instead of the left, as putting on the left covers the tab to release the headlight bulb, so putting it to the left means you have remove the taps to change the bulb. Putting it to the right made more sense to me.
I used Velcro to fasten one side to the headlight, and cable tied it to the headlight wire at the point it is fastened to the hood, so it is VERY secure. After taping the wires and using small cable ties to fasten the wiring to the headlight wires, this is how it looks. I am VERY happy with Lucy's newest mod', as is LadyT.

So I finally installed the Flash2Pass garage door opener I've had sitting on my desk for a month now and I just want to smack myself for waiting so long. It took only 3 minutes and worked perfectly. Two of the three minutes was just unplugging the garage door opener, removing the old inside switch and rewiring it to the Flash2Pass indoor module. The part that hooks up to your headlights takes less than a minute to install. No splicing of wires or anything. Two wire taps (thumb screws on either end that pierce the wire with what looks like a needle) are included and the whole process is amazingly simple. Three minutes later, I flashed my brights and my garage door opened. The module for the car and the switch for inside the garage "sense" polarity so you just hook the two wires up in any orientation and it works. I paid $59 for the indoor receiver and car transmitter together and got free shipping. There is the option to screw the module in but there are also grooves that allow you to use a zip tie which is what I did. I zip tied it to one of the support arms which holds the headlight in place. If you've been thinking about this and waiting for someone like me who apparently procrastinates even the most basic things, don't be like me
Flash once, the door opens.
Flash again before it opens all the way, the door stops.
Flash a third time, the door closes from the current "paused" position.
Had mine for several months now and never looked back. It has always worked like a charm. I missed one or more of the wires during the install and ended calling customer service who were very helpful and right on with their trouble shooting tips. One of the better bangs for the buck recommended on this forum!

Then thats perfect that it does not take away any normal functions! Just will have to get this soon.
Exactly. I have a Sears garage door opener and for some reason the inexpensive generic openers never worked with it... so I bought the Flash2Pass for the Solstice, and an extra transmitter for the second car. Gave the original remote to the girlfriend.. and all three cars can get in the garage without an issue.
rlhammon - now you're just showing off that your garage is clean enough to fit 3 vehicles in!
