My biggest gripe about my Solstice (which I guess is a good thing)...
Those foam cubes that are in the water funnels in the trunk, they constantly come loose and sink down the funnels. Every time I open up the trunk to raise/lower the top I pull them out of the funnel and stick them back into place. The adhesive (very sticky glue that always seems to get on my fingers) just doesn't seem to work at keeping them in place.
Anyone else having this problem? Any easy solutions? Should I go bitch to the dealer? Should I ditch the cubes and be done with it? This is just driving me nuts..

For anyone reading this thread late, z281 found an excellent, inexpensive solution to the problem. Please take a look over at this thread for more information. The solution worked for me perfectly and no more cube problem!
I have looked at these cubes in the past but have gotten to the point that I don't pay any attention to them. I'm not so sure they are even really needed. I think the purpose is to keep the water funnels open so they can collect water when it rains or you wash the car. However, I've never had a water problem with the trunk even though I never take the time to adjust them or ensure that they are still in place.
Yep, that's the only issue I've had, and I've given up on keeping them all up in place, I thought about doing something with velcro, but just haven't gotten around to it
I feel your pain. It's only on the passenger side on my Leeloo. Every time I give her a bath, it's a normal thing. One day I will get around to superglueing them in place, til then, it's still only a minor annoyance.
I remember someone earlier posting that you DO NOT want to remove those cubes. Something to do with waterproofing... But do remember you can secure them with double sided tape ...

I’ve got the same issue. I even tried using heavy duty headliner and carpet spray adhesive that’s water and weather resistant and they still come loose. I would be interested to see if anyone has a solution.
You might also try sticking some velcro on them and the matching velcro on the funnel.
<just read Aspenrose' post again... do that>

there were ((2)) options on those >>> non sticking OCD cubes and the premium super stick version.........
you could always superglue'm..... i figure if i ever need to wipe out the drain area i will be glad they made them like that......they keep drain flap open........i guess they could have made a really expensive way to keep the flap patent !!!!!!!! ( done alotta things to price it out my reach )
i'd be more worried about them sinking down into the drain but so far no biggie.... i'm watching them closely tho ..lol..
....should you go bitch to dealer ??? hahaha - you ARE kidding right ?? well if it was a million $$ car i guess i'd expect you could have jeeves drive it over and have it serviced properly or let your "driver" get his fingers sticky ! otherwise get a grip - you obviously don't have any REAL problems - count your blessings........... have your dealer order you a premium set
youwould really lose your mind if they squirted glue all over your trunk or top or got glue finger prints on paint !! sorry sugar - i'm not trying to be a butt head - guess i don't have to try at all - comes natural ...... i feel a lil cranky myself - maybe i should go bitch too - I WANT MY GXP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wonder if liquid nail would be a good thing or bad???
That may work-I think the problem is caused by the excessive heat in the trunk softening the glue that was used...just a wild guess, only slightly educated after taking a drink of wine that rode back there for 3 days

1) The cubes ARE needed.
2) It is a cheesy way of getting around a design issue (flaw, compromise, whatever) - water gets into the trunk at the area between the passenger rear firewall and the truck lid.
3) The bag that the cubes are not well glued in is designed to catch the water and funnel through the two hoses that pass through the trunk floor. Take a look!!
4) If you let the cubes fall into the bag they may jam in the drain hoses, the bag fill with water, and the trunk becomes a Coy Pond . (Think fish tank.)
5) If you remove the cubes, the bag may no longer gather water. Thing Coy Pond again!
6) This was discussed in another thread here, or the SkyRoadster Forum, and the best resolution was to actually sew the pads in place. I am going to using fishing line when my Redline shows up.
Bottom line, interesting fix to a design flaw, but do NOT ignore the cubes.
The debate can rage about why, and all that, but it is as it is!
