Neon tubes will not fade.....as stated...they will be on or off. LED tubes will fade off, as most products on the market are made to run on 12v or less, so as you give it a fading power source (dimming), the light will decrease in brightness. Althought, this is true for some Neon Tubes on the market as well....so if you look hard enough, you'll find a fading neon, but LED's are the way to go!

We tapped into the mirror. I think we did black as ground and blue as power. I'll hopefully get pics tonight if everything goes as planned. My friend just got hit by a car on his crotch rocket and is in critical condition at UofM with a possible broken neck

Wow my sincere apologies to your friend and I hope it all turns out for the best. I am looking to buy a crotch rocket as well or a harley sometime. I hope he was wearing protection. No one here wears gear. Was it a left turner? Those are the worse. Keep me updated on his status and just post the pics when you have time no rush.

thats crazy matt. best wishes to your friend.

One of my good friends from work was hit on his way home last night too. Some guy jumped two lanes of traffic and knocked him over the guard rail. He always rides in full gear and only has a few bruises but was out today. Scary ****.

Hope your friend is OK. I'm a fellow biker too and I know how that is.

The map light is the grey wire. The black is the ground. I mentioned earlier, the grey wire works differently. When the light is on, there is no power in the grey wire. When the light is off, there is power in the grey wire. The grey wire is the triger wire for the map lights. You will need a relay.

Im still waiting for someone to come out with that. A supporting vendor on here makes them for other cars but won't make it for the solstice unless they get alot of interest in it.

the same application of LEDs can be used there as well. Just mount them under the plastic and cut little holes

I decided to do this tonight. I bought the 9" Led strips at Advanced Auto parts for 23 bucks. They come two to a package. They're only about 1/8" thick and come with 2 sided tape to attach them. They come in a few different colors. I got red to match the rest of the interior and stuck them up onto the plastic panels under the dash on each side. When I put in my auto dimming mirror, I put the relay that was needed in the passenger foot well fuse panel, so that's where I was able to do all of my wiring. Basically the + wire for the LEDs needs to have power all of the time. The - wire for the LEDs gets connected to the wire that turns on the dome lights. This is the gray wire in the mirror harness. I don't know for sure, but you may need a relay to isolate this wire from ground. I had to have one to get the LEDs in my mirror to work properly, so I already had one installed. Right now the foot well lights only come on automatically when the map lights do. They also dim along with the map lights. I did not install a switch to turn them on independently.

Here's some pics:
