Ok, I finally wrapped up my solstice project today. I'm very happy with the outcome and figured that the reveal deserved it's own thread

For details leading up through the build, you can check out this thread: Full Custom Interior...Goodbye plastic!!

So, let's begin with the before just incase you don't remeber. This is the car of board member Frank I. Frank was generous enough to volunteer his Solstice to recieve our first prototype interior and let me hack at it for a couple of weeks until the whole interior was done.

The platform as a bone stock 2007 GXP:

Pretty drap and loaded with plastic. If you followed the conversion thread, you know what went into this build. Today Frank picked up his car completed and drove it home. I almost felt like my car was leaving b/c of all the time I had spent with it

Anyway, on to the goodies...

This is what has been done to the interior of the car.

Door outers have been wrapped in Italian leather.
Door centers have been padded and wrapped in suede material and leather.
Custom embroidery was done on the door centers and the center console.
Suede/leather combo was drawn out through the interior with double red stitching.
Katzkin seats in leather and suede material combo were added with Pontiac logo.
Center armrest was padded and wrapped in suede/leather combo.
Shiftboot was replaced with full leather one peice boot.
Center trim around shifter was covered in leather.
All three handles were wrapped in leather and stitched.
Chrome door handle recess was covered in suede.
Entire backsplash of car was covered in single peice of suede material.
Solstice logo was raised in suede material behind both seats.

Here is the end result:

....continued on next post.

The one thing we did not accomplish yet was coving the light. I'm getting something made up right now. After completed, I'll send you a picture since you were the one who gave me the idea! Hope your doing well.

Sincerely,
Frank

Very nice job. One question regarding the suede. Would the suede discolor if leather cleaner/conditioner happened to get on it when you were applying it to the smooth leather? Like the contrast but have concerns with suede. Again, great job--just what the Solstice needs to tone down the plastic. Would like to see what the dash (not the part surrounding the gauges) would like like covered as well.

It's actually a synthetic suede material similar to Alcantara. It's very resiliant and does not stain easily. I haven't had any problems with any chemical on it so far. I've even taken straight acetone to some samples to see how well the color stays. None came off at all.

I was actually set up to do a Sky as well but the owner backed out. PM me with what you were looking to do and I'll round together some numbers for you. It all depends on how extensive you want it all to be.

Absolutely. I have a myriad of colors and textues that I can work with. Everything from carbon fiber print to ostrich print leather. Synthetics range from genuine Alcantara to cloth. Of course, embroidery can be done on just about anything as well.

I wouldn't personally use the suede. For an open to the air car, and from ease of cleaning (or getting caught driving in the rain), but it does look gorgeous. Too bad you aren't in So Cal. I would love to have you leatherize my GXPs dash. Great job.
