Did anyone install GM's pedal cover? Are these clamp ons or require drilling?

For $13.41 more, order it through your local Pontiac dealership. Make a friend in the Parts Department, show off to the gals & guys in Sales.

I have them in my car. Clutch and brake are simple, remove the old rubber pedal cover and replace with the new. Gas is a different story. You have to remove the entire assymbly. Remove the lower dash cover plate and then 3 bolts and unplug the unit. You have to press out two pins, replace the pedal and press in the pins, then replace the unit and cover.

The GM Brushed Aluminum pedals covers have replaced the rubber one. The whole job, taking my time, was less than 45 minutes. This turned out to be easier than I first thought.

Tools needed; flat head screw driver and a 10 mm ratcheting wrench (I think a must over a regular open/box end wrench).

1. Remove the close out panel under the dash, three push pins.

2. Undo the 2 nuts that hold the footrest, pull out the old, slip in the new and replace the nuts.

3. Pull off the "rubber" brake and clutch pads and slip on the new ones (you have to kind of pull/work with your fingers at the back of the pads to get them on).

4. Remover the three bolts holding the accelerator pedal assembly. There is enough room to remove the bolts without removing any other “panels” The side panel is flexible enough so the bolts can come all the way out.

5. Disconnect the sensor electrical connector. (careful using a screwdriver to lift the catch)

6. Replace the accelerator pedal assembly with the new one by just reversing the process. (I put the two bottom bolts in first to hold the assembly in place, and then put in the top bolt. It was a little hard to get this bolt started because it’s a little hard to reach).

7. Reconnect the sensor electrical connector. (It “clicks” back in place)

8. Replace the close out panel

This is the footrest, brake and clutch pads, and accelerator pedal assembly

Just installed my set this evening. Took about 30mins. Most of that time was spent standing on head to get the top accel. out/in. Should have picked a time when it wasn't 90deg... Well worth the time though...

Just installed mine as well. Funny how such a minor upgrade can make such a difference in that "bling" effect. I was going to post pics but it doesn't look much different from glider rider's pics below

It was a fairly quick install (about an hour) but took me way longer than necessary due to fumbling around with the "easy" slip on rubber backing of the pedals and the sensor plug on the accelorator pedal. My advice to the next home installer, follow glider rider's install steps below with the following additions:

- Heat up the back of the new pedals with a hair dryer for a few seconds. This makes the rubber slip on backing much more pliable and easier to, well, slip on. These were noted in the instructions that came with the pedals (can't believe I actually read the directions )

- When moving on to the accelorator pedal, note that removing the 3 bolts should be done first before trying to remove the sensor plug. This allows you to have the entire pedal arm in hand to get a small screwdriver under the plug latch. SO MUCH easier. I fumbled with trying to remove the plug before removing the pedal arm and lost some valuable time. Just dumb (guess I don't read directions all that well )

- While a 10 mm ratcheting wrench would've been nice, I couldn't get it in there for the accelerator pedal arm due to the tight space under there. I had to use a small open/box end wrench and then my fingers. Holy tight space to work in there in general. Do they have Oompa-Loompas working in the GM factory?!? I'm not a big guy either (5'10" medium build) and it was tough getting in there.

And finally, be sure to schedule a chiro or spa appointment before hand due to the contorting and twisting of your torso just to get under there. Pretty ridiculous but well worth it though

Good luck!
