Having problems connecting wires: Side Marker Lighting

Hey guys, i need some help. I'm trying to connect 12V LEDs to the side marker. Connecting it to the Blue and Black Wire however no light. I also tried connecting it to the purple and black still no success.
I first tried connecting through the connectors and then stripped the wire and wrapped the wiring still no success.
I know my LED works since I tested it through a AA battery. Please help me what am I doing wrong.
Is there a coating on the wire or something else??

The wires to the side marker lights are Brown and black.
If you look at the post about modifying the marker lights into signal lights there is a drawing.
Hope that helps.

Hey mminhas,

Not sure why it's not working for ya. I have this done to mine and they worked first try. I did have to add resisters into the blinker possitive line to stop the rapid flash but it worked either way.

I didn't do a DIY thread and with the car all tucked in for the winter can't run out and look at the wire colors but the thread Krelubot mentioned "How To" Convert Side Marker Lights into Marker/Turn Signals a good one and should help. How many LED's are you puting in?

I did three per side above the side marker lights.

Hi Gunnys GXP
I actually got the idea from your post. Its a very good idea, I am trying with 2 red LEDs on each side. I saw your post and the pictures show light blue and black.
Does it matter which position of the wire I connect them to. Basically I have tried connecting them after they split off and before. At a point the wires split off and connect into this "white thing". I don't know what that is. Where should I be connecting the wires or does it not matter at which length I connect them at as long as its the right color.

It shouldn't matter where in the line you splice it (current doesn't care) and the blue and black wire should be the right ones. I spliced in right behind the bulb plug for the signals. Are the two wires for the LED's both copper or is one silver? If there is a built in resister in the LED the current will only flow in one direction so it may be wired backwards. You asked about a coating on the wire. Does one of them have like a red tint to it? If it does then it is coated and you'll need to melt that off with a lighter before you connect it or it won't work.

i doesn't matter where the resistor is (before or after led) but i know polarity matters.

Thanks Guys,
I followed your advice and used a lighter to burn away the coating on the LED wire. Then plugged to the brown and light blue. So now every time I turn on my fog lights the RED lights turn on and also blink when using the turn signal.
I've only completed the right side putting in 4 LEDs. Once I complete the left side marker I will be posting pics very soon.
The right side looks awesome.
Once again thank you everyone.
