So, I kinda got tired of being normal with interior, thought id something a little different. again. lol.. as some of you may know, i recently graduated from the Installer Institute in Daytona FL, earning basic and advanced MECP certifications, as well as diplomas in advanced vehicle design.. so i figured i should start something that will help bring my name a little more to the fabrication scene.
Officially started this past Monday, i removed the dashboard, and "skeleton dash" from the car, leaving things a little bare.. I will have a few sketch rendering of the new dash up later this week but the plan is a center focused dashboard with traditional roadster influences as well as exotic/classy styling as well.. in the first photo of the bare interior, the guage bezel is simply resting atop the radio, NOT hooked up or anything, just for the pic.. (sorry about the camera phone)
Behind the stock cluster the harness cannot be moved at all, so I spent the day lengthening the harness, as well as rewiring my strobe unit so a more well hidden location.
It got messy.
But came together by the end (rewire finished)
New Strobe Box Location
Rear Strobe Wire Runs
New Gauge Cluster Harness Location
As you can see, its going to be a headache of a project, but with the main wiring finished, the frame work for the new dashboard should be started as i finish some renderings towards the beginning of next week. to give a little more info on where things will be fitting, the two center air vents will be moved symmetrically to the left and right with the cluster moving up between them. the AC controls will either stay above the steering wheel or around the traditional control location. the radio will be on the passenger side with a Double din mount for my next head unit.
I've had alot of interest in pms, so thought id give a (sorta) update, hopefully the frame will be done by the end of the month and hopefully begin glassing shortly after, the final product should be leather/carbon fiber two tone, enjoy!
