I thought I would post here in the interior mods section to give them some more exposure.
Here's mine, with swsc enbroidery, and a custom Zune pocket with clear plastic window.
Before you tease me about my poo brown zune clashing, let me say I was shocked when I saw the pics too, it doesn't look that bad to the naked eye. Besides, I'm thinking of ordering one of those vinyl skins for it.
If you wanted to do this with an Ipod, I doubt the wheel sensors work through the plastic, so you would have to do a smaller window, and leave the wheel uncovered. If you send JPM a leather Ipod holder, he can copy it no problem.
Top notch product, quick turnaround, cushy soft under your elbow. This is my favorite mod on my car right now.
Looks great.
Just a few questions.
1. I will assume you went with leather. How well does it match your interior?
2. How long did it take to get center console? I don't really want to wait a long time leaving my center open.

The only thing that might take a bit is having a design converted for embroidery. If you wait till he is ready for you before you send your console, he usually does it in one or two days, then ships it back. Mine was gone for slightly over a week, and almost all of that was shipping time.
The color match is perfect, the grain is a little more open and triangular than the leather seats or the plastic. But then, leather varies, so your seats might be different than mine.
Basically, I had to go out and look to answer your question, I had noticed NO difference till I looked closely.
Glad the Zune pocket worked out Does it allow for the charger plug like we planned? Looks good.
As for the leather match question, you have to remember that most of the solstice interior (even most of the seating surface) is vinyl instead of leather. Because of that, the pattern is perfect and consistent throughout. Also, any OEM leather is treated to the point that there is very little grain pattern left. This is usually done to help with wear of the seats (although it holds up worse to cracking). Because of this, it can be difficult to end up with a 100% perfect match when you bring in a natural product. I feel that the match is close enough that it won't get noticed unless you finely examine the texture up close.
The leather that I use on all the products is 100% Italian (except for the colored leathers which will be italian soon). Italian leather is treated to enhance the feel and softness of the leather while keeping natural grain patterns. It is also not sanded or buffed to the level of other leathers so the texture is apparent and not subdued.
BTW, here's a closeup of the texture so you have a better idea of what it looks like:
Charger plug works perfect. Now I just have to find a way to disassemble and hide the charger under the dash and snake the cable under the console so it isn't so apparent. Yet another project..
Excellent..excellent
I want to have a chili pepper embroidered on mine. I need to find a design I like.
I want a group of chilis like the ones for Chili's restaurants. I am a club of one.
JPM: any chance of making some door arm rests? I would really like to work with one company so I know that everything will match.
BTW- the closeup pictures really helped.

I'm in the process of developing add on console pads and arm rests too. I need to come up with an original design as I don't want to rip off Stitcher and Carolina Customs. It's hard because I don't actually have a Solstice to work with though so I have to guess sometimes and rely on others for help.
BTW, on the embroidery, we can duplicate just about any design you can imagine.

Italian leather is the best! I thought another reason it is so nice is they don't use barbedwire in Europe so no scars

Usually not. I haven't noticed any scars. I do see branding marks though. Supposedly, the most valuable leather is the one with natural marks on it like scars and brands. The leather that I have been using has been discontinued though and I'm switching to another company that has amazing quality. It's an Italian company so they're in charge of the whole production instead of just a distributor.

Very cool. Let me know when you get a design ready, I'm in. Don't like the current options from the other guys.

Talk to JoeMamma... I believe he was interested in helping you out with a donation of his car for you to work on. He's part of the Georgia club... I think.

Nicely done with the Zune pocket... I was thinking about getting Joe to fab something up like this for me and my Zune. Another option would be to fab in one of the new Soundgate remote pads and have the zune tucked away in the glove box (I was thinking of doing this in conjuction with a Nav screen so I could see what I was controlling...)
