Aztek, I think we got ours from the same dealer a month before you. Ours didn't have the bracket. Dealer said they'd get us one. We're still waiting. Not that I plan to use it, but was curious when it would come in. Maybe you got ours. We thought that would be another good excuse, "We never received the bracket from the dealer" And, that's a true statement!
That's a great statement!... and Aztek, AWESOME pics!
And... I'm still undecided. I'm going to check to see what the height requirements are in our state. Thanks again!
Good job, Aztec, I left the bottom legs on, however, and used clear caulk/adhesive (the kind used for fishtanks; so it is waterproof) to stick to the front end below the honeycomb for that extra bit of holding power. Other than that the location is identical.
Nice idea. Thanks!

jrdallas, I had same problem getting bracket. Salesman told me he had parts order the bracket. Sales manager told me the same thing. Parts manager was unaware of my needing the part. I contacted cac@pontiac.com, Pontiac Customer Assistance Center, Eb Theodore, a manager. Managers can also be reached at 800-762-2737, 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., Eastern Time. Mr. Theodore contacted the parts manager at the dealership, who ordered the bracket from another dealer's stock, and got it right away for me. Take your pick: Try the parts manager first to establish a working relationship, and if you get no results, try Pontiac Customer Assistance Center. PS: Salesman also got me a new factory window sticker from GM for my records, shipped in a large, not bent, envelope. Hope this info helps anyone with similar problems. Now, if I can just convince the service manager to stock at least one differential seal! He has no info on this problem and could not locate a service bulletin. Chet-O
Just put my front plate on, right on, good advice, you can barely see the plate now. I wasn't gonna put a plate on at all but yesterday a cop pulled a u e and followed me for 20 miles. Not sure why he didn't pull me over as a front plate is a must were I live. Maybe he figured it was a porche or some expensive car and didn't want to bother the beutiful people.
I've been driving in Texas, mostly in Austin, for 4 months without my front plate mounted and have had no trouble with the law. I even got a speeding ticket and the copper didn't even notice that I had no front plate. On another occassion, I asked a couple of Austin Police Officers if they would pull someone over for not having a front plate and they said they would not. I have my plate behind the passenger's seat and will use the "waiting for the mounting bracket" excuse if ever stopped.

Ok, im-be-sol, gotcha down for response #5.
I'm hoping to join the Austin Sol's for their hill country drive in March, hope to meet you there.
Purefect/Shannymoomoo, as far as the 6" state rules go, for a cop to ticket you for a plate too low, you're going to HAVE to of done something that really pissed him off. imho. Plus the install looks so stock, I don't think it will attract attention.
3 week update, I have now driven in high winds at high speed in all directions, I've driven in rain, I've driven long distances at speed, and the bracket is still unmoved and solid. As long as you don't hit anything with it, I don't think anyone will have any problems with this mounting technique.
We also had a 84 degree day in Dallas yesterday, (followed immediately by a 32 degree day), and I did some highway driving. The coolant temp stayed constant at 194.

yes, i did the same, left the bottom legs on but got some of those felt tips you put on the bottom of furniture legs and stuck those on the ends of the two bottom legs to keep from scratching the bumper cover. i also mounted the bracket a couple of rows higher in the grill than aztec did. solid as a rock, ain't goin' anywhere and looks pretty decent. check the vanity plate thread if you'd like to see it mounted.

Thought I'd show your mount here, great ideas Big D.
Mounted mine yesterday. (See pics below) Since it's been raining in Lubbock for the last two days (Yes! Praise God!), I've not had Muirne out since the addition (trying to keep her pretty for the Austin meet next Saturday!). The install went easy and it seems sound enough. I'll check it a few times between here and Austin, no doubt!
--Chemist (Oh, yes, I also used the "furniture felts" on the lower pegs to avoid scratches.)

The miata boys have a spring loaded front mount that hides itself. What we need is a vendor to come up with a remote controlled one that tucks under the front and pops out and up, like those ALPINE double din car stereos.
"Uh, but Officer I *DO* have a front plate" <presses hidden button>
