Well a little back story...so i'm driving home from Houston(Astros Game) and I drop my phone .. Its super dark so i cant see ANYTHING...finally after about a minute and some swerving I finally found it so i decided to fix that little lighting problem.....
Replaced ugly 192 bulbs with 5 SMT LED Cluster...
Driving with maplights on...WAY Brighter!!! And a nice pure white look...
No flash, Just way overexposed look at the Driver side map light and foot well ... with the passenger side off..
Both Sides lit....
Passenger side map light and footwell lit...
The pictures are overexposed so the red LEDs are actually a little more spread out and don't look exactly like that in person...
This was a semi annoying mod ...The thing that took the longest was figuring out how to run the wires from the rear view mirror so that the footwell lights turn on whenever the maplights turn on...and fade out with them also....Figuring out where to put the LEDs was also very tedious...there isn't ANY room under either side...and working down there is even worse....
In the end...Maplights work great and left side footwell turns on when left maplight is on and rightside footwell is on when rightside map light is on...It really makes a HUGE difference when looking for things on the floor or just wanting more light in the car....

It's always easier to install battery powered lights. You could keep a flashlight in there too.... there are lots of options but this is super classy. I like that they'll fade out with the map lights.
My brother's scion has led bars across the footwell... i was thinkin about something like that mounted up inside the lower dash.

I know how you feel! I was about to kill someone when I was trying to wire up my gauges and run the damned vacuum line for the boost gauge.
It doesnt help that all of the fuses are on constant power so you cant tap in there.

6 Red LEDs 10,000 MCDs ---- pack of 10 for $12.00 wired with resistors and wires
2 5 LED SMT cluster ---- $11.00 each for maplight
about 50 ft. of wire, wire connectors, electrical tape and zipties...
Thanks guys for all the comments!!! ...yeah i could have gone the easy route and got a battery operated light, but it wouldn't have looked "factory installed", and they wouldn't come on w/ the rest of the lights...
In the future i hope to replace the LEDs with maybe an LED bar or a neon of some sort that can handle the lower voltage given when the lights fade out...Till then, these do the job and look great also..They cant be seen and the interior looks like it hasn't even been touched (except for the LEDs)...And to top things off they blend in with the Red Guage lighting too
If you are willing to do without the footwell lights coming on when the maplights are turned on manually, but still want the courtesy lights/fadeout feature, it can be done without wiring all of the way into the mirror. BCM connector C3/A3 for power and C3/A10 for ground are the courtesy light control connections. Better than a battery light, but not nearly as cool as yours, RDT253.
