Question: How to paint chromed plastic emblems/badges
Folks, I have a question:
How best to paint chromed plastic lettering from the exterior of the car? I'm working on a project and am trying to paint some letters removed from the rear of the car. Auto touch-up paint looks good, but scratches right off. Suggestions?
Thanks.

I always used zinc chromate primer on chrome. But first I'd rough it up a bit.
Not sure about plastic.

Sand it first, and instead of auto paint, go to a good hobby shop and get Testors model spray paint .... ( Which, by the way, now comes in about a hundred "automobile" colors.

[quote=RevmanII;769012]Aha! I did have it right. You took the "S" and the "C" from a rear Solstice badge .
Congrats on the new mods Chemist ! Look forward to your reviews after a couple weeks with it .

Thanks, RevmanII.
BTW, the best answer to the initial question is:
1) Sand lightly with 400 grit sandpaper.
2) Apply two light coats of Duplicolor's Adhesion Promoter (essentially a clear primer).
3) Paint with whatever color you want.
4) Finish with two light coats of Clear Coat.
